A:Â I called Rheem and they answered this. You need to remove the access panel that the wire goes into and unplug the wire. After that, push and turn it a lot until it stops. The brain box thinks it's smarter than you when you're trying to turn it off.

Works properly, but the leak sensor cable can be overly...
Works properly, but the leak sensor cable can be overly sensitive to moisture including condensed humidity, causing the whole Heater to shut down.
You can temporarily fix this by carefully wiping off the leak sensor cable with a dry towel.
Careful placement of the leak senor cable is important for proper operation and may differ from one installation to another.
I believe that shortening of the cable could help in some circumstances as it senses moisture progressively throughout it's length by changing in resistance. (Shorter should be less sensitive).
