Nice water heater for under 1 grand. 50 gallon, 12 year warranty
Easy to setup. Best thing is how easy it is to ignite the pilot and simple temperature control. Like blinking led light.

Reading reviews I seen a story similar to mine. I brought this tank in 2015. It just burst and I didn’t even know it was leaking until I seen the water all over the floor… It was good while it lasted…

Failed after 8 year 1 month
I bought in 2015 wanting the extra warranty of 9 years, 2 full, 7 limited. Glad I did. Came home and a nice river in the basement. Rheem was good actually! Still need to pay the difference on a new model. But for a product to fail is just beyond me, atleast give me 12-15 years then break, I would but the same product again..now I am not so sure I would, if not warranty.

Saved a ton of money installing myself!
I had Home Depot install this model 6 years ago for 1st floor apartment. I called a Rheem distributor for a quote to install this exact model. Totally shocked when they came back with a price of $1917 plus tax!!!! My local Home Depot no longer does installs, but suggested a guy that charges just over $700 for labor alone! It was at this point, I decided I would figure out how to do myself (first time) as opposed to paying asinine prices. Glad I did!

ECO (ENERGY CUT OFF)
After 15 months the water heater failed. Home Depot and Rheem refused to stand behind the product. The ECO fuse blew and the complete $150 gas valve has to be replaced. Other manufacturers have a resettable ECO. Do not purchase this brand.

Lukewarm Water, Temp Sensor Fail
The water temperature sensor failed on first heat. Diagnostics light confirmed Rheem agreed and ask if I wanted to install the new sensor. Being a 100% warranty issue I said no. They said the new sensor would ship and I would get a confirmation email. 4 days now no email or parts Rheem says when the part is delivered a service person will call to schedule repair Very difficult to believe Rheem has no service persons with parts to repair their units Still waiting on phone again.

Failed after 5 yrs. No customer service
Water heaters from other brands have lasted 15-20 years. The 50g short model from Rheem sprung a leak after 5. Ok it’s within the warranty? Been trying to contact them for a week. The 800 number disconnects after a short wait and no response to my emails.
