The 12 year tank warranty is excellent
After our Rheem 50 gallon heater gave us 27 years of service, we decided to replace it with this slightly smaller 40 gallon version with their longest 12 year tank warranty. Installation was very simple. We also bought some longer flexible 3/4" hoses to account for the shorter tank height. It is much quieter than the 1996 model it replaced. At the 'hot' setting the water is plenty hot enough and we can take back to back showers with no issues. Hoping it will save some money on propane gas too!

Surprisingly easy to install
It took two weeks to get the special order delivered to home Depot. It was extremely easy to install. It had the dielectric nipples already installed and the safety valve and a brass drain valve. All that was just connecting the old plumbing to the water heater and the propane line. It started right up and heats water a lot faster than my 16-year-old Kenmore performance water heater. It also keeps the water heated longer compared to the old Kenmore. The only tricky part was the exhaust tube.

Guess I really never realized my old hot water heater wasn’t working as well as it could but, when I installed this Raheem Platinum series, “WOW”! This new Rheem really does an excellent job. I took a shower about 30 minutes after installing it and nearly burned myself with all the hot water. I have readjusted it to better fit my needs but, I am very impressed

Works excellent I can have the setting to low and still have a long hot shower and it does not run that often so I am using less propane then I was before. I have had it approx 1 month and I highly recomend this unit.

Could not get Pilot Light to stay on
Purchased this unit online and picked up and proceeded to install the water heater without any issues. After I had everything hooked up and filled with water I followed the lighting procedure and could not get the pilot light to stay lit after numerous attempts. I called the Rheem Service Phone Number and explained the situation. The customer service representative told me I needed to replace the Pilot Light Assembly. He ordered me a Pilot Light Assembly Kit but said it will take 2-3 days to arrive. I checked to see if the Home Depot carried the part and no luck, it would have to be ordered. Here I am on a Friday afternoon and no hot water until the part arrives next Monday or Tuesday.....Very Dissapointed Indeed. I researched many different brands of water heaters before I chose the Rheem and it appears to have been the wrong decision. Hopefully the Pilot Light Assembly Kit will correct the situation and I can update this review with something positive. Now I get to explain to my wife why we will not have any hot water for the next few days. If the new part does not correct the problem, I will be looking into returning the Water Heater and purchasing a different brand.

Great Design & Features
Overall: What can I say, it comes with 12 yr warranty. It has small foot print, has led indicator to let you know if water heater is on and running, easy to light pilot and adjust temp for any person.
