Product Overview

The Rheem Performance Platinum 55 Gal. Electric tall water heater provides an ample supply of hot water for households with 3 to 5 people. This unit comes with two 4500-Watt stainless steel heating elements and an automatic thermostat which keeps the water at the desired temperature. PlusOne Water Management control includes multiple user modes and water sensor with audible alarm. A 240-Volt electrical connection is required for installation. A patented magnesium anode rod design incorporates a special resistor that protects the tanks from rust, providing longer tank life. Factory installed temperature and pressure relief valve and 3/4 in. water connections are included with the water heater for easy installation. This model has a 12 year limited tank and parts warranty plus a 3 year in home labor warranty. This Rheem Performance Platinum model is Wi-Fi compatible allowing for remote monitoring of the water heater's operation (Wi-Fi Module REWRA631EWH sold separately).

Excellent investment. High quality electric water heater. Installed easily. Silent. So happy I upgraded to a 50 gallon tank with more than enough hot water! Because it was wider than my closet door, my handyman removed the door and surrounding wood. As promised, it was replaced easily, quickly and cosmetically perfect. The sensor to report if a leak occurs and the lit, digital temperature gauge are a plus.

Purchased the first water heater on Oct. 31, 2018. We weren’t happy with the amount of hot water we were getting-difficult to take two showers simultaneously, but we thought maybe it was due to energy efficiency. Fast forward about a month and the leak detector alarmed. Discovered that it was leaking around the lower element. Contacted Rheem, and after we spent about 30 minutes on the phone, they said the lower element needed replaced and they would send us one. Problem-there’s no Rheem approved plumbers in the area-so we either had to find someone to work for a voucher (good luck with that) or DIY. the lower element arrived, we drained the tank and installed. We noticed an immediate difference in the amount of hot water and were pleased for all of about 3 weeks. Now a new alarm and no hot water. None. We again called Rheem and spent another couple of hours back and forth with them. End result, they shipped us a new panel. Again, we installed because that was our only option. Now, the hot water lasted for about 3 days. Again, we contacted Rheem. During this 1 hour troubleshooting discussion, they tell us that we will need to exchange at the local Home Depot. So again, we drain, uninstall, return to store, pick up new one, bring it home, unpack it and reinstall. Maybe we just got a lemon the first time? One week later, another alarm. Spent 2-3 hours on phone with Rheem troubleshooting and came to one conclusion -it’s broken. The kind gentleman offered to send us a part, couldn’t tell you what it was, cause I was seeing red by this point. I’ll cut to the chase, we called HD while we were going back and forth on the phone with Rheem and kindly asked if they would take the water heater back for a full refund and they obliged. In the meantime, Rheem was still giving us the runaround, saying we couldn’t return it. Finally they stated we could return it to the store, but by then it was a moot point. They did send us a $100 sorry bout the inconvenience check, but that really didn’t make up for all of the previous paragraphs of grief. You remember the polar vortex that hit the Midwest about this time? We were replacing water heaters in 0 degree temps. We purchased an AO Smith and it has been purring along for a couple of weeks-knock on wood.

      I have had this unit installed less than a month. I cannot give an evaluation that would be credible for long-term use. However, I can say that it was easy for me to install and get operating without any issues. So far, it is doing a great job. For what I know from this short time to evaluation, I would recommend this product, especially for someone who wants the ability to control it from all site. It has WiFi built in and can be accessed by a device that plugs into the unit. See on website.

      Nice touch screen features
      My old water heater was running my electric bill very high last 10 days of its life. New Rheem cut bill way down and works great.easy to switch modes from energy saver to demand on screen. Haven’t moved to demand mode yet been ok for 4 people on saver mode 2 weeks so far
