Does this have a reset button anywhere on it only one year old and no hot water

Asked by Brad April 10, 2020

Hi Brad...yes it has a reset. It is located behind the electrical access cover located on the side of the WH. Please ensure that the power is off prior to removing the cover. If the High Temperature reset is tripped open...then you may have an additional issue...possibly a thermostat malfunction. If not tripped and the heater still will not function, then it will require that the voltage, amperage and resistance (Ohm) be verified per manufacturers specification (located on the nomenclature sticker), which will require a Multi-meter .I would recommend at that point you would consult a service company, if you are not certified or properly trained in the use of electrical testing meters. Please be careful when you work on any appliance in regards to electrical as well as water, they like each other a lot..however not the friendly way. I hope that this helps.

New water heater that had grey matter coming out with a rotten egg smell. What can I do to take care of problem

Asked by Mo June 30, 2018

Answers

Few points to consider. 1. Obviously, need to consider the water quality from the city/well water supply, color and odor, up stream from of the water heater. 2. If not caused by the water supply, the grey matter may come from an internal tank leak or deterioration of the water holding tank walls. Product Defect. 3. The rotten egg smell is seldom from the tank as opposed to supply water. Could only expect a rotten egg smell from the tank if the water in the tank has set in it for some time and it has become septic Just my thoughts and hope it helps. John

I purchased this replacement tank because it closely matched most of the original tanks dimensions, capacity, voltage etc. But for the price, the $10 the manufacturer saved by not installing a drain valve was a poor decision. By purchasing a separate drain valve is poor alternative.

The size was the critical point. Was replacing a 20 gallon that had been installed/used since 1978 under a bathroom vanity. Had this one professionally installed. Working fine and the difference in the capacity is negligible.

It works as well as any other new water heater. The pitch is that it's ample for 1-2 people - that's a stretch. It's OK for one, but I was aware of its small size when I bought it. Seems to be fine overall. Would I recommend it? Sure, but I just bought it.

After 3 years on a 6 year warranty, this heater began leaking at the seam on the bottom of the unit. I called, got a person who verified that it is still under warranty, and told me I needed a licensed plummer to install a new one, take the old one back for credit. Through hours and hours of phone calls, emails, and contact at Home Depot I finally got a new one shipped to me in the Show Low, AZ Home Depot. The day it arrived, I hurried to the store (around Sept 20th) and found the box it came in was badly damaged, the unit had dents on the top and bottom. I tried the unit anyway and, same issue, it leaked at the bottom seam. Back to Home Depot and got them to order a replacement for the damaged one.As of today, October 9th (39 days later)) I still do not have the heater. Last I heard was that it was shipped on Oct 5th and may take a week to 10 days to receive. All this time with no hot water in the house. I hope that my warranted heater will arrive some day, undamaged, not leaking, and can heat water. Totally disappointed!!
