We want to get this system but I do not think it will work for us unless someone has a solution we are not aware of....we have ONE electrical switch in the house that turns on all 4 front lights at once (2 at front door and 2 at garage). we did this for convenience of not having to walk downstairs to turn front lights on separately. But now we wanted to replace ONE of the garage lights with this floodlight...however does that mean that it will not work unless we keep the electrical switch ON all of the time (day and night) which in turn means leaving the other 3 front lights on all of the time as well!

Can the lights be controlled via App? For example: Can I turn on or off the motion sensor option when I'm out in my backyard hosting an event?
Asked by: Rey
These are two different issues. 1. The app provides an on-off switch for the lights. So the lights can be controlled through the app. However, an infra-red sensor turns the lights on and there is no way to turn this off. So the lights will come on whenever a heat emitting object is detected. There is no sensitivity adjustment for this and any small animal will be detected. 2. Motion is detected through the camera. The app lets you schedule when motion will or will not be detected but this does not work. After a call to customer service, I was told that the only way to prevent motion detection was to set a detection zone and then make it inactive. This is easily accomplished through the app. I frequently work in my yard and it is a simple matter to open the app and deactivate the zone before I go outside. In conclusion, you can turn off the motion sensor when you're hosting a daytime event but there is no way to prevent the lights from turning on after dusk when a heat emitting object, i.e., a person, is detected. The only solution is to power it through a switched circuit so power can be switched off to prevent the lights from coming on after dusk. This is how I have mine set up for the times I want to go into the yard after dusk without the lights coming on.

Asked by: Myq
Yes, you share your camera with multiple users, I don't believe there is a limit. You don't have to share all the cameras just the camera you want to share will be shared.

Install was easy...was a little skeptical that the cameras would not capture enough of my property, but after reviewing they see the entire yard and doors! Have had a few connection glitches but in think that was due to my wifi and not the cameras (you do need a strong wifi with some good range). Love the real time notifications for when we are gone and ability to talk through the cams, and hit the siren (which we haven't tried yet). Very pleased so far!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Holiday Weekend Nightmare I own 3 Ring Doorbells and two stick up cams and have been impressed with the performance of these devices. When the floodlights became available, I ordered 3 of them. After installation, one went offline and started emitting a loud high pitched squeal. After spending an hour on the phone with Ring I was able to get the the squealing stopped and the device functioning again. This evening, I was alerted by my Kuna porch light of someone at the door. I could hear the same high pitched squeal from the Ring floodlight. There was a police officer at the door responding to a noise complaint. I am over 400 miles away at this time. I had to call a friend that has a key to drive 30 minutes to my home and turn the power off to the floodlight. When I get home, I will need to borrow an xtension ladder so I can push the reset button on the Ring Floodlight and spend another hour on the phone with the Ring support team. This product is just not quite ready for market. Two of three have failed. When can I expect the third to fail?

Both the Arlo and Nest camera systems do allow one to disable audio recording. Unfortunately, Ring doesn't. This is a problem when used in states with wiretapping laws which prohibit audio recording without two party consent. Many states such as MA, CA, CT, IL, FL, MD, WA, PA have this wiretapping law. Hope Ring add this feature in the future. I was surprised audio recording couldn't be disabled. The motion detector is a hit or miss for me. Sometimes it captures a motion detected event and other times it don't. Even when you purposely jump up and down in front of the camera, there is no motion detected event at times. I suspect the Ring servers get so overloaded that events may be missed given sometimes since sometimes there are long delays to even receive notifications of those captured event. Due to this, it feels unreliable for me. Their customer service is outstanding though. It is 24/7 and every time when I spoke with someone, they were always so pleasant on the phone and helpful. Probably one of the best customer service experience I have encountered.

Purchase two floodlight cameras, one doorbell camera and two door chimes. Nowhere did this system would require additional service plan. After thirty day free trial you no longer can view previous events. You have to purchase their plan. If you purchase the Plus Plan $99 for 12 months service. That's not all. They then tell you it's $99 for each camera Plus Plan. So around $300 enjoy you new system. PROBLEM PROBLEM PROBLEM. Try putting this information on your product so customer know what their getting into. Took all cameras and ring chimes and got my money back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product This replaced my old-fashioned flood lights and is such an improvement. When presence is detected, the camera begins recording (the lights turn on also only if it is dark) and you are alerted via smartphone if you have it enabled. You are able to set the sensitivity for alerts. It has a 2-way speaker system and a siren you can turn on if wanted. It is VERY loud and would scare the wits out of anyone that should not be on your property. All of this is operated by your smartphone. There is also capability to program the lights to come on for a period you set (from dusk to dawn if you like). The video is 1080p HD and is so clear. I needed the ChimePro to extend my wifi range since this was very far from my router. Works great! Lights and motion detector can be rotated however you want them. Set up was easy to follow once my wifi was strong.

I think we may have jumped the gun on this purchase., Ring needs to work out some kinks. We have the Ring doorbell and are very pleased with it so we are familiar with Ring and how this product SHOULD work. The first camera we installed in our backyard-it was so sensitive that we had to dial it down to only pick up people since it was constantly going off with the slightest breeze. The other camera we installed in the front of our house and it is constantly going offline. We've had it for a couple of weeks now and sometimes when it is working we only get a black screen after being triggered and a motion detected. I have sent complaints to Ring that their software appears to need an update but have not gotten a reply. Note that to reset the wi-fi you must get up on a ladder and push a button on top of the camera-that is a pain in the A and really NOT convenient for everyone to do, especially when it's going of on a regular basis. We are seriously considering returning the one camera but since it came in a two pack not quite sure how to do that without taking them both down-again a pain! NOT very happy with this product and very disappointed!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Spotlight still need electrical connection! I assumed wrong that this ring spotlight camera did not require power and ran off the batteries for all electrical needs. It requires electricity which is not clear when they say wireless but what do I know. This camera has a whole lot more bells and whistle‘s and the spotlights are a lot more bright Advanced settings allow for facial recognition, object size detection to screen out pesky cats in the middle of the night. All in all I love the ring system. I bought the video doorbell and now I’m ready for some security lights for my driveway. I’m still weighing the pros and cons with the wireless spotlight and camera. Although it is not in the store, you can get an additional battery or even solar panels for the battery version.
