will this adhesive work well on self stick vinyl tile? I put self adhesive tiles on top of old adhesive tiles but they keep sliding instead of drying.

Can you suggest any ideas?
Asked by: roberto
slide it back in place and put something heavy on it to make it stay there. I dries differently to temperatures.

will this work just as good sheet vinyl

and I am fully aware that the recommended adhesive for that type of vinyl flooring is Roberts 2001 but unfortunately I grabbed Roberts 2057 instead I was just in a hurry and not paying attention and I searched online but I couldn't find anything specifically about my question I was wondering is there really that much difference between the 2001 and the 2057? because if there isn't I would much rather use this than to have to go back to the Home Depot and return it

do you need to clean the old adhesive off the tile before using the Roberts 2057 adhesive even if the old adhesive is not dry
Asked by: dbltt
I would recommend it. With the old adhesive on and the new adhesive applied the tile may not sit flush with the existing tile. In addition the new adhesive will not be adhering to the full backing of the tile.

First of all, laying VCT tile is not a very easy DIY task. This is a pass/fail project, there is no middle ground. Either your glue and tiles will hold very well, or not really at all...it's all in the installation. I think most of the negative reviews here reflect poor installation, not a poor product. Here are a few pointers to make your floor installation a success using Roberts 2057 Premium Vinyl Tile Adhesive. TIPS: Clean the entire area around the work area of dust and debris to ensure none is tracked into the area being tiled. Have multiple rags and clean warm soapy water available at all times to clean up any accidental glue spills or glue on the face of a tile, and clean as SOON as it happens. Be very deliberate when handling the glue, it is super sticky and can get out of hand really fast if not handled carefully. Done correctly you should have zero glue cleanup once installed. Do not take for granted the temperature and humidity of the installation area and be certain you are within the installation parameters! Avoid any major swings in temperature during the installation, and during the drying period. Take your time when spreading the glue, do not rush it. This glue is watery and runny for a reason folks, it allows you around an hour of open time to spread the glue. Use a 1/16 in. x 1/16 in. x 3/32 in. u-notch flooring trowel and spread the glue as evenly as you can without extra ridges. DO NOT apply more glue than the trowel allows. This glue acts like contact cement, and less is more. Wait until the glue dries! This is VERY CRUCIAL. If the glue is still yellowish, it is not ready. This can take from 30 minutes to a few hours or more depending on temperature. Make sure you keep the room above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, and have good circulation to exhaust the moist air out of the area while the glue evaporates and dries. Once the glue dries you have around 6-10 hours to lay the tiles and still maintain proper adhesion. Single rooms and smaller areas can be done all at once, but larger areas might need to be broken up into smaller sections...so plan accordingly on larger floors. Last but not least...roll the floor with a 100lb roller. Do not skip this step. Roll slowly and completely in both directions. This tool can be rented from Home Depot for about $24/day.

Absolutely horrible... this stuff is runny, consistency of elmers glue, extremely messy, very slow drying, and is not strong. Ran out of my Henry's floor glue, bought this bcuz guy said was good.... Let it sit 1 hour to tack up, was still runny. Wouldn't even hold the tile to the floor. I ended up having to put every heavy tool available to weight tile to floor. Returning to store.

Thin and soupy unlike the much stiffer consistency of competitive products. This causes it to ooze between seems and edges and make a mess. Very difficult to not have it slop onto unwanted places.
