Product Overview

ROBERTS 2057 Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT) Adhesive is a clear, solvent-free, water-based, thin-spread adhesive that provides excellent grab and high residual tack. This superior grade adhesive brushes, rolls or trowels on and helps hold tiles firmly in place, even when subjected to repeated cleaning and mopping. When spread thinly as instructed, the adhesive dries correctly and turns clear, allowing chalk lines to remain visible. This adhesive is also suitable for installing vinyl-composition or vinyl-asphalt tile over existing vinyl-composition or vinyl-asphalt subfloors that are free from waxes, sealers and finishes.
  • For adhering vinyl composition tile (excluding self-stick), including tile-over-tile installation
  • Bonds with concrete, APA rated plywood, one layer of existing and finish free VCT, aged cutback adhesive residue, primed gypcrete (refer to ASTM F2419) and terrazzo
  • Ideal for direct bond and double bond installation
  • Moisture Control Adhesive - up to 8 lbs. MVER and 85% RH
  • Thin-spread adhesive dries clear in up to 24 hours with the restriction of foot traffic and moving heavy objects
  • Approximately 160 to 180 sq. ft. per gallon coverage when applied with a 1/16 in. x 1/16 in. x 3/32 in. U-notch trowel and 170 to 190 sq. ft. per gallon coverage when applied with a 1/16 in. x 1/16 in. x 1/16 in. square-notch trowel
  • Enviro-friendly, solvent-free and LEED compliant; VOC < 1 g/L, SCAQMD Rule 1168
  • Protected by GoldGuard, an antimicrobial protection system that inhibits the growth of mold, mildew and odor causing bacteria in both wet and dry adhesives
  • CRI Green Label Plus Certified - GLP no. 3647
  • 15 year moisture control, 15 year direct bond, 7 year double bond limited warranty
  • Do not expose freshly applied adhesive to water for 4 days or to standing water for 4 weeks

Horrible product
I have laid my share of VCT tile over the years and have always used a 3/16 x 5/32 trowel to lay out my adhesive. I don't know if I simply got a bad batch but this product TOOK FOREVER to set up to a point where I could work with it. After waiting over 100 mins (YES 100 MINUTES) after laying it out I was still unable to lay my product without the tiles sliding around. I even had direct air current flowing over the work area and it was the middle of the summer so it wasn't cold outside. Very frustrating to be forced to wait 3-4 hours before you can begin to lay out your product. While my trowel is slightly larger then what is recommended I laid out the adhesive very thin and to no avail. Adhesive like this typical develops a skin after setting for a hour and at that point you can start laying your material. Make sure and plan a entire day for your job when using this adhesive since you'll be waiting half the day for this stuff to cure up to become workable.

Roberts understands installing a new VCT floor can be challenging. Here are some key product usage points regarding the 2057 this thin spread VCT adhesive product that may improve performance and satisfaction. The largest trowel size recommended for use during installation is a 1/16" square notch (over porous substrate). A smaller notched trowel is recommended over non porous substrates. Ensure adhesive trowel ridges are well defined. When excessive adhesive is used, longer than usual open time should be expected. Always allow the adhesive to dry to a full tack (no transfer to fingertip) and a transparent color prior to installing the tiles. Once flooring is installed, roll the flooring with a weighted roller in both directions to secure the tiles into the adhesive field. - Customer Care QEP

I simply loved using this pre mixed grout. It was so easy to apply and made my work as a first time DIY tile installer, look very professional. It closed in the gaps that I thought I would have to move toilets or cabinets to achieved. Very pleased with it.

Sticks well! Both the tile and my fingers stuck well together. Less is more on this product so as you push down you wont have to clean excess from the seam lines which will get sticky fingers. Tile is holding well as it should.

This product is easy to use, but is a VERY sticky substance, especially if it gets on surfaces you weren't intending. But it cleans up well with just soap and water which is very convenient. Use a tub or bucket of hot soapy water for clean up. Then you can spill the used water outside somewhere. I would never put this stuff down the drain! And I would recommend having some mineral spirits on hand, as well, just to clean up any glue, once it has dried. I'd also suggest some solvent based hand cleaner. Wearing rubber gloves doesn't work, since the gloves fingers will stick together if you should get any glue on them. Also, a word or warning: Be very careful about placing each tile you put down, because once it's in place, it is VERY difficult to lift or move it at all. I made one error, after laying a tile, and I actually had to destroy the tile in order to pull it up from the glue. Yes, it's that strong!
