Roberts AirGuard 5-in-1 Premium Underlayment is the only underlayment manufactured with both Microban and air flow technology to inhibit mold growth. The bottom layer of clear film has tiny holes in it allowing the subfloor to breathe. Thousands of tiny polyshims act as cushioning and stabilizers to allow the air to move and flow through the underlayment, pushing the moisture vapor, inhibiting the growth of odor and stain causing bacteria, mold and mildew. With the overlap flap and tape, installation below grade, on grade or above grade is easy.

Should this product be used on an original floor which is just a concrete?

Ive noticed that this should not be used with vinyl flooring as answered in other questions. However, what i I'm using non-adhesive vinyl flooring, but using the click and lock type vinyl flooring planks? Is that OK over this product?

This is the type of flooring I installed with it. My planks have the cork bottom. It made some of the edges and transitions a bit tricky but as long as you offset the underlayment seams or subfloor transitions from the seam on the vinyl plank, it’ll be fine. Doorways are the trickiest areas.

No. The instructions say be careful of any holes in the plastic because you want to keep an intact vapor barrier. we used it for floating laminate.

You really don't need one. Keep the pink up, the white down and overlap with the adhesive flap. If you're over a wood subfloor, a few staples help, concrete a few dabs of liquid nails and you're done. Time to lay your floor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NOT 1/4 inch thick but easy to use This underlayment was pretty easy to use and is supposed to act as a vapor barrier as well. Is it worth the price though - not sure since this is my first click-lock floor. I do know that it is not 1/4 inch as the title says. It really only measures 1/16 inch. (The details page says 1/8"). The theory seems sound - walking on the floor forces air through the tiny beads of foam carrying the moisture to the ends and out. The 8" sticky tab makes it easy to attach one strip to the next - though we found that the edges were not cut evenly and seams in the roll were very uneven and had to be fixed. Make sure you run it up the wall and trim it after installing the floor so any moist air goes into the room and not your walls or back under the floor. That would defeat the purpose of this product. I really hope it works though because I installed it over my concrete basement floor. Make sure you floor patch any dips in the floor or you will get a spongy spot in the floor in those places.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a long time investment, might as well spend... This is a long time investment, might as well spend the extra 20 cents a square foot. This stuff is awesome and easy to put down. Has built in seam adhesive tape so no additional cost or fumbling.

I wanted to make sure any underlayment we used would help against possible moisture, offer some insulation over the cement floor, and appreciate that this one also prevents bacteria and mold. It went down easy and the included adhesive helped it stick to itself from one row to the next.

It has just the right amount of stiction to remain in place when you walk over it or kneel on it for floor board installation, but comes up easily if you need to tweak the placement. And installed, it seems to provide excellent support.
