Yes it should help, the product is advertized as a moisture barrier. Not sure if your wood floor is on ground level with concrete under it or not. Make sure you overlap the seams and tape the seams with a good packing tape. Also make sure you put the correct side up when you install it.

Can you use this product when installing LVP flooring? LVP is not nailed/stapled to the floor.

Duuude. Why are you installing moisture barrier on the second story? If you have moisture under the floor on a second story, you have problems that this paper can’t fix.

My understanding is that this is designed for concrete subfloor on the ground level where moisture can rise through the concrete from the dirt underneath. If you're on the 2nd floor, I don't think it's needed.

Can I use this as a vapor barrier on a dirt “floor” (no concrete) in a crawling space?

Answer

No, Roberts Silicone paper product is specifically designed for use as an underlayment during the installation of wood flooring onto wooden subfloors. (interior use only) Always follow local codes when adding appropriate plastic sheeting to crawl spaces.

The barrier underlayment was easy to use. Rolled it out before laying laminate planks. I used a plank to hold each end otherwise it would roll back together again. Instructions says to staple it to the wall to prevent that from happening but using a plank worked fine for me. You can also use painters tape as well. Beware that the instructions do say to overlap the barrier by 8 inches. Take that into consideration when calculating how many square footage is needed. My biggest advice is to make sure your subfloor is clean without any debris. Otherwise it will rip a hole in the barrier.

Worked well enough and it was cheaper than most underlayment. It does have a tendency to bunch up and wrinkle. Somehow when we rolled it out and stapled it, it was smooth, but by the time we got to it with the flooring it had expanded and gotten wrinkles.

Very nice product and very easy to work with so the product did meet our expectations. No problems thus far with laying it down before installing hardwood floors. The manufacturer of our hardwood flooring recommended this product in their installation instructions so that's what we went with. Fortunately, our local Home Depot had plenty in stock so no need to purchase them online.

Inexpensive, but effective vapor barrier
Used as an underlayment for installing nail down, tongue and groove bamboo floors. Comes in rolls and cuts easily with scissors.

I actually bought this by mistake. I thought it was both a moisture barrier and cushioning underlayment. It provides no cushion or sound deadening on concrete slab. I should have bought the plastic type with cushioning and moisture barrier combined.
