Yes. This soft close damper fits on the inside of the cabinet.

will this work for a drawer?
I would say NO, unless the drawer has a self close feature. This item only dampens the action, but does not pull the drawer close.

Shown is a left hand opening door, can this be used on a right hand opening door? Used in the opposite upper corner of opening? The securing screw does not appear to be accessible if the adapter is inverted as your detail shows it should not be installed vertically.
yes, it can be used for left hand doors too, there is a screw hole on the other side of the damper for this purpose. I did not try to mount it vertically.
