Q:wil this cut countertops

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, it will cut countertops but very slowly. You have to let the bit cool down after a few seconds. & it depends also how thick the countertop you are cutting. I due pattern cuts, so regular carbide saws won't work. This bit is very exacting.

A:  I used this for removing grout between tiles as well as trimming stone tile. I would not recommend for larger areas but it worked well for the 6 or 8 pieces of 1/2in wide and 3/8in inch thick stone tile I needed to trim.

A:  Didn't try it for that job. But cuts very well.

by|Feb 4, 2020

A:  Won’t work if it is a marble counter top.

A:  Granite and marble countertops, 3 cm thick? No, it won't. If you need to do a sink cutout in a stone slabs, you need specialized tools.

Used the bit in my Dremel to cut circles in 7 mm thick ceramic tile. Worked great. Spraying water on the bit while you're cutting helps a lot.

Bought this to cut holes in porcelain tile. Asked the store tool guy if it was made for porcelain also. He said, “Yes, it will work.” Well, it didn’t. All it did was crack said tile. Don’t buy this if that is your purpose for doing so no matter what the store folks say.

This is a good, sturdy bit. To prevent breaking the bit, only use it at an angle to the grout and pull towards you. In other words, don't pull it at a 90 degree angle to the tile floor.
