A:  I would think YES! You could put up one (1) piece, on one side, of the room. To see if it gives you the affect you want. An correct the visual anomaly, you're experiencing. The other way may look strange, & amateurish. If the crown molding works, finish the room with it! REMEMBER, the crown moulding you use, should be sized to look appropriate, for the size and height, of the room you are doing. TOO SMALL, & it will look cheap! TOO BIG, & it will be overpowering! This particular moulding does not require painting, and is very easy to take care of too! I used it throughout an entire home, as is. It still looks great, and it's still like new, for almost 5 years now! Make sure you caulk it along the ceiling and the wall after install. To prevent dark shadows, where the surfaces of the ceiling and the wall meet the moulding. Otherwise you will notice the dark line, more than the ceiling and the trim! (The dark line is caused by a lack of light getting in between the mouling and the surface it adjoins). That space also collects dust,dirt,smoke and any other airborne substances. Making it always look dirty & unkempt. The bead of caulk should be very,very thin as to not take away from the look of the project. It takes an experienced caulker, to give the proper look, without any overlapping of the caulk onto any of the adjoining surfaces, walls,trim,ceiling!

A:  Yes, we used this moulding as a flat crown molding . We applied a 3/4 in. x 1 in. x 12ft. PVC Royal Moulding around the room first, then we applied the flat crown moulding under it. We feel that it would be easier to install the crown & other trim piece before you install the 3D ceiling. It would avoid a lot of work, taking down the tile next to the wall & recut it to fit. Due to the 3D (DIMENSION) you will get a lot of gaps & shadows if you do not install the trim & crown first. I know, we had to take down a lot of ceiling tile & recut them to fit. That meant we had to remove the adhesive on the back of the tile which is a lot of work, recut the tile & repaste the ceiling tile back up!
