Used to be good, now it's horrible
I have been buying this brand because my local (Beaverton, OR) Home Depot keeps it readily available. However, most of the bags I have purchased in the last year have been so broken up, the quality of cooks has been severely impacted. It takes ages for the chimney to heat up, and the coal doesn't make it through even the shortest of cooks before I have to add more. Unacceptable any longer, and I'll be buying my charcoal of a different brand elsewhere.

I always use 4 bags of this charcoal for 3...
I always use 4 bags of this charcoal for 3 hrs roasting a whole 50-60 lb pig. Works great all the time!

Dealing with Florida Weather
Good Coal. Lights quick when new. Try to keep bag in dry place, pool areas and outdoor kitchens make it tougher to light in high humidity areas. Good flavor. Mystery rocks in every bag. Don't know why. I use only on my BGE.

Both bags I purchased did not have a single lump in it. Next time I will pay the extra few dollars for charcoal that works.

Foreign debris mixed in and mostly small lumps
There was a rock toward the bottom of the bag. Sadly, a high number of charcoal lumps are so small that they slip through the charcoal grates. This charcoal does give a good flavor, but the quality of the product is lacking.

only tiny pieces of charcoal in bag
All of the pieces of charcoal were so small they barely remained in the Kamado’s burn basket. Most “lumps” were less than 3/4 inch long. Poor value even for a short cook. A longer than 30 minute cook required a refill.
