Questions & Answers

Can the shed be assembled by one person?

Asked by: MikeH
Yes it can be, but it would be better with another person when putting the (2) support bars for the roofing.

We built it using an area of our backyard patio as the foundation. It is very true to its measurements.

Are there shelves that can attach to the inside?
Asked by: Carol
There are not shelves that come with the shed. You could check rubbermaid on line (google rubbermaid Big Max storage shed as they have several sites and this should get you where you need to go). However, there are slots where you could put in a shelf bracket - support and then add the shelf. Good Luck

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Definitely NOT for Canada (just look at the pics) Just bought this on September 22nd 2018. It's its first winter. 10 years guarantee huh ? Look at the pics and.. don't buy. You're welcome folks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy! Before I purchased my shed I did a lot of research. Did all the home stores to get the best small shed for the best price. I also read every single review since me and my son were going to put this one up together alone! (Mom and son) and it had to be do-able and easy. I bought this one at Home Depot and I could not be happier. It went up in about 3 hours - no problems - yes there are a lot of screws to screw in but with a power drill it couldn't have gone any smoother. Bought myself a pegboard, and some hooks and tidied everything up inside too. Feels very sturdy - not worried about our cold winter weather. I could not believe all the negative reviews I read about installation on this and all other sheds. I think those attempts were done by people who have never held a screwdriver in their hand. If you are on the fence about this one don't be - great buy for a great little shed. PS I got this one on sale for $698.00 under $800 taxes in - you will not find a better deal!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Collapsed This shed collapsed after 2 1/2 years. There was minimal snow on the roof at the time. Apparently they say that this is an act of God, and not covered under their warranty. Buyer beware. I wouldn’t buy Rubbermaid again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A pleasant surprise I'm becoming more of a do it yourself kind of girl and purchasing this shed was definitely a test for me. Needed two people for the walls and roof support bars. Being 5'3 and trying put up 7 ft walls alone would have taken a lot longer, but my neighbor was kind enough to help and we had all the walls, supports, and doors in place in about 3 hrs. I tackled the roof alone. I was very pleased with how the roof pieces sat in place without much slippage and roof fastener hooks? were really helpful for me to pull the top bendable piece in place. One downside, the two roof pieces do not indicate a left or right side, so I ended up placing them on wrong side initially. It's hardly noticeable when you change their positions. I successfully had it fastened down, screws in all places, before it rained. Glad to report no water made it inside, little airflow but not overly stuffy. Had to evict some slugs, peacefully :). I'll see how it fairs through the years. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Max Storage Shed This shed was everything I hoped for! Great quality for the price, and easy to set up. Install and set up takes about 4 hours, definitely want an extra hand to line up the walls and putting the roof on. This project can be done by yourself but I wouldn't recommend it. The inside is reinforced with metal cross bars and there are anchor points to mount it to a foundation. You want to make sure you have a level foundation. The platform I put it on was slightly bowed on one side and it made one of the wall slats about a half inch uneven, but once I screwed everything together it leveled out and is unnoticeable. The accessories that come with it are a nice bonus and fit on all walls easily and securely. The locking bracket on the doors is nice if you want to keep kids away from your equipment and chemicals, but if someone wanted to break in it probably wouldn't stop them. All in all a great shed with plenty of storage space. If you want the most bang for your buck I recommend buying this shed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Max Shed Bought the shed online as it was a great price and free shipping. Straight forward panels are marked for easy building. There are a ton of screws - make sure you have a drill for those plus an extra battery. The side panels were a breeze to put in as well as the floor. Now the roof is a bit tougher as you need at least 2 people. Luckily I had my dad and brother help out so it made it much easier. Plus make sure you have a couple of short ladders or stepstools as the roof is over 7' high. Also Rubbermaid, why the 21 screws on the windows, for a total of 42? Plu the doors had one hinge in the middle, better to have two, as it would be more solid then. As for the time it took about 3 hours to assemble the shed. We did the base the day before - 8 x 8 with 2x4 and a plywood on top. We used a gravel base - that took about 2 hours. So total time ws about 5 hours. Don't need to be a rocket scientist to put it together, it will save you about $500.00 if you assemble everthing yourself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Assembly & Design My brother and I did the assembly, things started out well until we started with the roof. When affixing the front top portion (M), my brother immediately said this is a bad design (it should be more like the back). Well, it is! When sliding in the metal support features, M shifted and popped out, enlarging the screw holes. We needed a third person to help with holding M in place and while locking the two metal support bars. When securing the roof, we lost a couple of screws in the bar, no way were we going to dismantle the roof to get the screws back. The design of the support bar isn't really good for guys with large hands. We finally finished, it looks good but one side of the very top of the roof (the apex) shows a gap. We kept looking to make sure we had everything lined up and secure, check. Again, the design isn't the best. BTW, couldn't you include Plexiglas instead of the templates? It looks good, so far I'm fairly happy, time will tell as the weather changes to rain, sleet and snow.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mine has bad leaks The doors are warped. They curl at the edges, creating an open gap at both the top and bottom about the size of a baseball. The gaps let rain in, and I didn't notice it until the whole thing was assembled. Even if Rubbermaid gave me new doors, I would have to dismantle 2/3rds of the thing and reassemble. It's not what I bargained for in a pre-fab shed.
