A: You can cut them but you will loose the finished edge, with that said, it won’t matter if you are using it as an inside shelf

A: Yes they can be cut but will lose the white finished edge!

A: They can be cut, but you will lose the laminate on the edges you cut. If you do cut them, you could paint the edge or stick it against the wall to hide it. The shelves are particle board, so yes, they can be cut. Put masking tape on the surface you are cutting to keep the laminate from chipping.

A: No they are slippery finish and would not take paint very well. You would need to get an unfinished shelf if you want to paint

A: You would need to sand and/or primer first. There is a slick finish to these. These shelves are quite heavy. I returned them and bought a better all wood product.

A: Generally painting on a laminated surface will scratch easily. There are primers to aid the adhesion.

A: They are laminated, I don't know which paints might work, whether a prep is needed. You should ask your paint store.

A: Possibly. If you sand the laminate surface first, latex based paint should adhere well enough. Buy a short one and try it.

A: I would worry more about how much weight you will be putting on them. The shelves themselves weigh about the same as a pine board the same dimensions, so they are fairly light.

They are easily holding a decent amount of weight on...

They are easily holding a decent amount of weight on them. I was a bit worried at first about shelves sliding, but they're up high enough and have enough weight that I'm not too concerned anymore. I also believe there is hardware you can use to secure them if you think it's necessary. My only complaint is that I've noticed some...bubbling?...in places where they've gotten wet. That's pretty disappointing, since I'm using them to hold plants, but I'm just going to try to be more careful to keep them dry.
