Our basement is damp, and floods occasionally with about 1/4 inch of water in some places. Will this paint withstand that? The last paint I used (latex I think) bubbled and peeled off. Also, it's an old concrete floor--will it need to be etched first? Thanks
Asked by: Bob
Hi, It shouldn't bubble or peal off, as it can be used on pool decks. It also lists basements, and I'm assuming they are taking into consideration that basements flood sometimes. I know ours did in Wisconsin. I hope this helps. I think if you use it and it peels or fails you qualify for a refund.

Do I need to add sand or specs to help with slipping?
Asked by: Tim
Yes, they recommend adding a packet of non-skid additive if you want your surface to be non-skid. I will say that the sating finish is grabby without the non skid, but to be 100% sure, add some non-skid additive. I added some to mine and I'm happy that I did. It was like a fine silica powder.

Can I use this on my my interior wood steps? I painted the concrete floor and want the steps to match

Asked by: JackieO
I feel like you can, although they don't list wood. You could contact Rustoleum to be sure. You could tint the appropriate paint to match, or you could test it on a inconspicuous piece to see how it holds up.

Can this be used in a northern climate where it can drop to 20 degrees below zero? Will it get all scratched up when you shovel snow? Can you put salt melt on it without wrecking the paint? How often does it have to be re-applied?
Asked by: Pepper
That is a really good question. I couldn't find an answer on the can. It is gasoline resistant, and UV resistant. I would contact Rustoleum. Since it's latex I feel it's more susceptible to scratching. Even my oil enriched cabinet paint by another brand scratched. All paint is vulnerable to scratching and chipping if struck or scraped repeatedly. You might want to consider a concert stain, that way the color will soak into the concrete and won't get scratched away. I kinda wish I would have gone the staining route first. I hope this helps!
