A:Â Happy to help, Holli! To help with coverage, we would recommend priming this surface type prior to applying Rust-Oleum Brush-On Milk Paint. You may consider using a primer like Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Water-Based Primer. Please keep in mind, this paint is not intended for use on surfaces that will be exposed to high humidity.

A:Â Great question, Laya! Yes, Rust-Oleum Milk Paint Finish can be used on table wood surfaces. To help with coverage, we do recommend priming bare wood. We recommend using Rust-Oleum Zinsser Cover Stain Oil-Based Primer to prevent tannin bleed.

Great paint for vintage furniture
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have painted a lot of furniture and tried quite a few furniture paints, so I was excited to try out Rustoleum Milk Paint. I tested this paint on a scrap of old trim with a similar finish to old wood furniture. I used the navy paint and it is much, much brighter in the can than the final color so don't be alarmed. It darkens a lot as it dries. The first coat went on smoothly with pretty good coverage. This is a buildable paint, so after the first coat of paint you could still see some of the old finish showing through. I wanted a more opaque look, so I added a second coat. Two coats was plenty to get good even coverage. I love the final look of this paint - it gives a very soft, matte finish with a very authentic vintage feel and nice depth of color. I'm definitely looking forward to using this on a future furniture project!

I loved it. The paint had great coverage on my old 80's stained wood piano. I am confident that it will stand up to the wear and tear long term. I'm still thinking of putting on a sealer coat but at this point, I'm not sure I need to! It's beautiful and I've gotten tons of compliments already!

Love this chalk paint. It’s actually the first type I try. But it did wonders to my project. Went with the farmhouse look on my dining table and side tables as well as coffee table. Then I applied the behr wax and it looks amazing. Will definitely use Again.

This Rust-Oleum Navy Milk Paint has so many possibilities. For my first try I have painted the boards for what will become a pallet like sign. This covered pretty thick – maybe I didn’t shake up enough. Even with that, it did the job. I have a few other projects in mind for this. I think that I can get several pieces of old furniture painted with this because, for what I want, it won’t take but one coat. I did the boards inside and didn’t notice any odor which is great because it didn’t give me a headache. I was working under a fan, so it was dry to the touch almost as soon as I finished. I like the way it turned out so far and can’t wait until I have time to actually use it on the piece I have in mind. I accidentally got some on the plastic table I was working on and it dried and wouldn’t come off with water. I’ll have to find out what will remove it when I have time.

My GF uses these for her new and re-purposing projects. She likes the consistency and the way she can control the coverage. Says that it adheres well to raw and painted surfaces and prefers application with a roller except when looking for a certain effect. Also the ease of use. Being water based and non-toxic it makes cleanup a breeze and there's no worry of exposure to people or pets. Pic is first coat on flat white. The "gray" is two coats on raw wood.

I finally finished repainting my cabinets using the Craft milk pain in Gray. It came out very nice and I added white knobs that allows a nice contrast with the gray. I painted three thin layers to obtain the results was looking for and wanted. I only received one jar even though it states (2-pack) in which case I would have matched the color with the rest of my cabinets in the room. I also liked that there was no odor during the process and I did not have to air out my already well ventilated room.

I used this paint to redo my guest bathroom mirror and vanity. The current scheme was white and old. I just painted over the wood and it stuck. I think it is a formica-type material. it sticks with only a few coats. Or it could be my lack of painting skills requiring so many coats. Love the bright blue color! I would recommend this paint to anyone. Its is thick and beautiful and covers the material greatly.

Never used milk paint before, but I like it! A dense, very matte finish that is great for reclaimed furniture or craft projects. I used it to give new life to an old planter, and as a base coat for a round wooden box that I then coated with a translucent glitter paint. Both these turned out very well—now I’m ready for a bigger project. Easy cleanup too.
