Questions & Answers

can I spray the high heat engine paint over Rust-Oleum regular satin black that I sprayed a week ago.

I used Rust-Oleum automotive primer under Rust-Oleum black satin to paint a core support and inner fender wells on a GTO I'm restoring. it wasn't until after I sprayed it that I realized the paint is only good to 200 degrees, and now I'm afraid it's going to peel. especially on the core support around the radiator. Would it help to spray a coat of high heat engine paint over it. Or will the 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of satin be ok since it isn't actually on the engine? Thanks Paul
Asked by: Paul
Hi Paul, Most likely your paint job will be OK, however the top coat is only as good as the base coat, so it may peal over time due to the heat. Mike
