Rust-Oleum Rusty Metal Primer provides the best base surface on heavily rusted metal for most brands of automotive lacquers and enamels. Provides more than two times the rust prevention of using lacquers and enamels alone. For maximum protection, top coat with Rust-Oleum finishes.
  • Wet or dry sand

Q:I need to rejuvenate a center high mount light area, with full thickness rust (that has been rotary wire brushed and treated with Ospho) , some bare metal, and surrounding old paint. Is this the best product to use or should I consider Rust Reformer?

A:  Thanks for reaching out. Since Ospho converts rust to a paintable surface, Rust-Oleum Automotive Rusty Metal Primer Spray (and Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer) are no longer required since the rust has been converted.
