Is this surface very slippery when wet
Asked by: Mike
Actually yes if you seal it and you should. You can add sand to the sealer to make it less slippery.

looking to smooth out our carport. there are some areas that are kind of sharp from the aggregate in the cement that has worn through. nothing over 1/4in. would applying this product smooth out the rough spots with a few coats? or is it to thin a product for that kind of pitting?
Asked by: pedro
I don't think it would help smooth it. It is very much like a very thick paint and provides an incredible enhanced look to the driveway, sidewalk or patio but it is certainly not something which will hold on smooth 1/4" of sharp edges, etc.

Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield 1 gal. Concrete Resurfacer Kit, Gray is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product. Second coat was difficult because the product got thick. Add more epoxy or only mix half the batch, let the first coat dry, then put on another coat later.

Bad: Needed 4x as much as they say it covers, even after I repaired the spalled surface with vinyl patching first. Unknown: Too early to say how long it will last.

The liquid polymer bonds the concrete mixture more securely and more evenly that a water based mixture. The key is to follow the directions carefully and allow the blended mix to set - 30 minutes

After numerous attempts trying to have this item delivered to me I finally received it. It took Rust-Oleum 3 attempts to deliver this to me without it being damanged. I had a contractor scheduled to fix my front steps but unfortunately since I had to keep rescheduling him due to the damaged deliveries, I was left with having to repair my steps by myself. Before I start, let me say that I am a 38 yr old women lol. I love diy’s, but at first I was a little intimidated to use this only because it was on my front porch steps and I’ve never used an epoxy like this, or really any epoxy before. My steps had pits and cracks in them. They definitely needed resurfaced, but at this point they were more of an eyesore than anything and could be saved for future problems to come if they were fixed correctly. I had them resurfaced a couple of times before this (a friend of mine used a hydraulic cement) on them and they looked great the first couple of weeks but then everything applied would lift and peel off leaving me with exactly where I started. When I finally received this I paid attention to the weather and made sure to do this when there was no rain for a few days. I had a friend of mine sand down any existing products used and also for the hints of the previous cement sealer I used on it. I then cleaned them thoroughly with TSP, and let them completely dry for a day or two. I had purchased an epoxy paint brush and also a roller specifically for this type of epoxy. The Rust-Oleum concrete Resurfacer kit includes; 1 can of liquid (imagine a can of paint) and a bag of powdery substance. It also includes the long metal mixing part to mix the product. You will need a large bucket to mix the product in. All you do is mix the 2 products together (as per the directions which I might add are very easy to follow. Then you find your allotted set time (the time in which you let your product sit- after mixing it-but before actually using it.) I’m explaining this in detail for the women who want to use this product themselves. Right before using it you lightly dampen your area with a hose making sure to wipe away any puddles of water. You just want your surface to be damp not soaked. Next, after your set time has passed your supposed to mix it again for 2-3 mins I believe and then you can use it. When I first applied it the product was literally dripping off of my roller. I started panicking a little because I didn’t want any liquid marks being left over but having the epoxy paint brush came in handy because I was able to quickly brush out any drops as best as I could. I then figured a second coat is needed anyways and any drops would be hidden with the second coat. This stuff starts to harden pretty quickly so you want to work relatively fast because by the time you finish your first coat you will notice your second coat goes on much much differently. The second coat was more like using paint but thicker. Pretty much how I had envisioned in my head this stuff to be. As soon as I put the second coat on my first step I could already tell how amazing this stuff is. It puts a beautifully thick layer over top of your cement surface and most importantly it looks even. It makes them look as though their brand new. My steps didn’t have huge gouges or cracks in them, but they did have cracks and smaller pits and a bunch of uneven looking areas on them. The directions say if you have large cracks or missing corners etc to fix those areas first and then use the epoxy resurfacer. I did have an area at the very bottom right side where the sidewalk meets the steps, that was missing a smaller chunk of concrete in it. I took my paint brush and jammed a bunch of the epoxy inside of the hole and built it up slowly and was able to make a corner out of it! I’m not sure how well that small area will hold up since the directions say to fix larger areas first, but so far it looks and feels just like cement there. I honestly can’t say enough about this product , it’s that good. The ONLY complaint I have is that so much of the product was wasted. Unfortunately since i wasn’t experienced using this and didn’t realize how quickly it starts getting thicker and then harder, I had just enough time to completely finish my steps. I had used roughly 20% of the epoxy and had about 80% still left inside of my bucket. By the time I finished my steps the epoxy had set to long for the allotted time. The timeframe in which you must use your product is based on the weather on the day your using the product. It was about 80 degrees and my time frame fell under the product having to be used up within 1 hour. Probably not the best temperature to use this since cooler temps will allow for longer usage. Unfortunately we’ve had constant rain here so when I saw a few warmer nice days I jumped on it. It took me over an hour just to finish my steps so at this point I couldn’t start using the product anywhere else on my porch. My porch is a decent size and I would have been able to put 2 coats on it easily but I just ran out of time so I had to throw the rest away. I just re-ordered another one to re-finish the top part of my porch. Now that I have an idea of how to use this I’ll be able to do the top part in no time. If any women or anyone for that matter is looking for the perfect concrete resurfacer this is it. You don’t have to know anything about concrete. You just need to know how to attach the mixing part to your drill, seriously this stuff is so simple to use. It’ll save you a ton of $$ and will give your worn out concrete area that “freshly poured concrete look” you’ve always wanted without having to spend a ton of $. Best of all you can stain or paint this after it’s dried! This was a huge issue for me since my cement porch had been previously stained. Any other product I had researched couldn’t be stained for some reason after being used. Don’t be afraid to use this, just follow the directions to a T and you can’t go wrong. You’ll be SO glad you did. Best product ever!!!! Good luck!!!

I read all the reviews and question and answers before purchasing. I was very careful to follow the directions exactly. I did all the prep, had a timer and checked the room temp to make sure I did everything right. After the first mix, wait time and second mix the mixture was like soup . When rolling on, is was tin like water but quickly clumped and solidified instantly. I had a 90 min working time so I set the timer. 30 mins in, the mixture was so thick that I couldn't even get the roller in the bucket. At least half was wasted because it was so thick I couldn't use it. Now my floor is rough, bumpy, uneven and feels terrible under my feet. DON'T BUY THIS STUFF.
