    Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help Anne. Rust-Oleum Specialty Metallic Accents should be applied applied using a ¼" nap roller for large surface areas such as a wall. Start in an appropriate 4 foot area and apply in a straight up and down motion, ceiling to floor (versus a ‘W’ motion). End the stroke on the downward roll. Move to the next adjacent area and repeat the technique, slightly overlapping the just applied wet area (about 2 inches). Use a small width ¼" nap roller for cutting in corners, ceilings, and baseboards. Spray application is not recommended. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

This paint was chosen specifically to present a pearlized three dimensional effect on a floral bouquet that I painted on a 1927 refrigerator! 35 years ago this week, my husband, Thomas, and I honeymooned in Epernay, France in the heart of the champagne region, and my favorite was Perrier-Jouet, not only because of the excellent champagne, but also the amazing hand painted Belle-Epoque bottles. In this "shelter-in-place" due to COVID -19 scenario, I finally had the time to convert the 93 year old working fridge ( thank you General Electric), into a champagne storing wine cellar addition. I really needed the right pearlized paint for this job, and this product was absolutely perfect. Here is a photo of the the door of the fridge when I finished painting it... On a humorous note, I got two quarts of this beautiful paint, and I probably used about 1/4 of a cup. We have antique gates at the bottom of our driveway, and I joked yesterday that we could have "Pearly Gates"...Thomas said it was way too soon for that!

The Rustoleum Metallic Paint in Real Pewter resembles a dark metallic silver color. Like the classic bronze color, I found that I needed at least three coats for full coverage on both painted and non-painted surfaces: red oak edge banding, painted dining room table, and wallpapered cocktail tables; for the sheer first coat, I was able to touch up worn corners of a silver-leafed dresser. Lastly, I applied triple thick polyurethane in satin finish to protect the color.

I purchased this paint to refinish an old night stand. I wanted to see how well it covered before committing to a larger project. I first tried it on a cheap wood spice rack. The result were very impressive, I would recommend using primer on a larger project to help with coverage. I also tried it on a clay pot as a test project. I was very pleased with the results. This paint would be fabulous on a dresser, picture frame or any other project. I would recommend this paint for anyone looking for a subtle glimmer of "pearl" paint.

Extremely subtle metallic. It sparkles much more in container than it does on walls. If you are looking for the most subtle white pearl metallic paint ever, this will fit your need. If you are looking for an ethereal, high metallic shine and sparkle, this is probably not your best paint choice. For me, it was a disappointment. I was hoping for a light and airy but sparkly paint. (I also reviewed the Silver Metallic paint option, and the same info applies to the White Pearl paint option.) I wanted to use the White Pearl and Silver metallic paints together, stenciling one over the other. I'm attaching a photo showing the white metallic on top of the silver metallic to show how the white barely even shows up on top of the silver, and I painted 9 or 10 coats of white on top of the silver. Even though this is called "wall paint," the containers are small - 1 Quart - so you will not be able to cover an entire wall with one container, unless you are only using it for stenciling or murals. Frankly, if you're stenciling or painting a mural, I think you're much better off purchasing a smaller container of metallic paint at a craft store and paying far less for a better metallic paint.

          Response from Rust-OleumSupportDec 6, 2017
Thank you for sharing your experience! Rust-Oleum Metallic Interior Wall Paint is not a solid color paint. This product instead is a decorative shimmery, iridescent finish that interacts with light to heighten the beauty of the color. Each quart can cover 50 to 105 square feet. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

When I ordered this paint all I saw was the Restoleum name and assumed it was for metal. When I received it I realized it was wall paint. Decided to try it anyway. Used it to paint a metal candle holder that was previously painted black. This paint covered in 1 coat and didn't streak and I was done in less then 10 minutes. Cleaned up easy with soap and water. The price may seem high but your not going to use it to paint an entire room.

There is a Technical Data Sheet that can be downloaded from the Home Depot product page. It is informational and suggests a white primer be used to enhance the finish of the paint. It does have an iridescent look that gives some dimension to the item painted. I’m updating some mirrors that have metal accents on all four corners that I want to change to a brushed silver. I did not use a primer because I had previously painted the accents and did not think it would be necessary. I did sand it a bit to enhance adhesion, but not too much. I’m very happy with the result.

The Rust-oleum Metallic Interior Wall Paint in Classic Bronze delivers a metallic sheen to the medium being painted. I used the paint on a knockdown patterned wall painted with Behr Premium Plus Minted Ice in Matte Sheen ; with one coat, I would say 98% coverage over the that area and definitely 100% coverage with 2 coats. I also applied the metallic bronze paint on bare wood with ease - 100% coverage and graining was still present with 1 coat. I also tried this paint on worn vanity handles; like the other media used, there was no problem with coverage. I did add clear polyurethane over the handles to ensure the paint wont chip. The metallic paint didn't have a strong odor and the soap and water cleanup was easy.

This was the BEST paint. Initially I thought that it would not cover my dresser and I may need more. Half of one quart covered a long dresser and the rest covered the upright dresser. I would use this paint over and over again. And this color is more golden not champagne.
