Rust-Oleum Specialty 1 qt. Bar-B-Que Black Flat High Heat Paint (Case of 2) works well on grills, wood-burning stoves, engines and other metal items. It comes in a variety of colors and is great for use in temperatures up to 1,200°F. The paint is rust and corrosion resistant for durability.

Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Paint is designed for application to high heat metal surfaces, such as the metal exterior of barbecue grills and wood burning stoves, it cannot be applied to wood.           A:  Thank you for reaching out! Our Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Paint is recommended for metal surfaces that will exceed 450°F when heated, while not exceeding 1200°F. We do not recommend this paint for non-metal surfaces, or surfaces that will be in direct contact with flames. This paint would be an excellent choice for the outside of a metal wood stove chimney, for example. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

            Sprayed well but turned out bronze not black
            This paint lays down nicely with the spray gun but it was not black it ended up being more of a brown bronze color. Really disappointing I had no choice at the time but to finish painting my trailer smoker since it was down to bare metal. I cant even say it was operator error because two separate quarts of paint turned out the same color. Ill probably have to look for a different option and do it all again.

            Let's see what we can figure out Ronald. Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Paint requires heat curing to properly dry. The surface must be heated to 450°F for one hour, this will allow the paint to dry to the correct color.                 All Rustoleum Products are Awesome. The main problem I have with their product is that Home Depot Will NOT add color to their white base for a custom color. They say it Voids the Rust Oleum Guarantee. Bummer. I was forced to buy BEHR Base so they could add color after I primed the surface making a project a two step process instead of ONE that I trust with Rust Oleum Product.

                Product went on easy and looks great. Even though it can withstand 1200 degrees, it can’t be hit by direct flame or it starts to bubble. This kind of defeats the purpose of its use though.

                We appreciate your feedback! Yes, while Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Paint will withstand high temperatures, it will not withstand contact directly with an open flame. This product is great for the exterior of bar-b-ques and other high heat surfaces.
