Questions & Answers

Will this paint stick to ceramic tile? I can't afford the tile kit

Asked by: jeff
I can tell you I did my deteriorated shower wall (oil primed and smoothed first) and I'm thrilled. Haven't used direct spray on it , so don't know...just the bathtub splash. This is quite a discovery. I have been a painter contractor for decades and I'm a fan of this.Using the liquid , tho the spray is great too. I'm doing cabinet doors, bookshelf, louvered doors and jambs, even put a top coat of this on sub floor to walk on before I will do the linoleum tiles much later ..the seal is fantastic and walking on it does not scuff it. I don't know about the appliance part, it is just an overall solution that goes on in a nice flow, settles and makes me happier than any paint I've used since Dunn Edwards had to change their formulas by state law and thereby did away with their best products. I would bet this would last in excess of 10 years, up to 20, with no discoloration. The spray....I've painted over old (cleaned first) copper knobs, window cranks , ceiling light bases. The hall heater (no intense heat, just the grill). GOOD TO KNOW, IS-don't try to spray with it in cold weather, spatters bad..it must be warmer. This product has helped me on my cosmetic remodel of an older home, more than any other purchase. Yes, I am a grateful fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stuff is awesome!! So, after reading other reviews on the HD Pro App, I purchased this to use on a 40 yr old stove. It was that yucky avacado green, and someone in the past had painted it with latex paint! Well, I got that off, and cleaned it real good, let it dry. I followed the instructions from other reviewers on here, and got a good-quality FOAM ROLLER. WoW WoW WoW!!! Really impressed! Let it dry after the first coat, apply a second if needed. I found it works best to remove handles first. Also, use a foam applicator; such as you would use for staining, to do around burners, etc. Don't worry; what it looks like when you're done painting it is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from how it looks dry! Has a beautiful glossy hard finish when dry. Definitely will be using again. FYI; I am an apartment manager, I do this stuff daily. Tenants can't tell that it used to be a yucky color.

My wife would cover the spots with family photos. I first used an orbital sander to remove the major rust, then masked off the bits that I didn't want paint on - then used a primer the prepare the surface. I wasn't certain that the rust-oleum would adhere to the primer but it appears to. I applied the Appliance Paint with a 4 inch roller. It went on smooth & easy leaving an orange peel surface, must like the original finish. As per the label, it was dry to the touch in two hours. I waited 24 hours to apply a 2nd coat. It dried even better, adhering to the surface perfectly, as if it was sprayed on. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks like new -- can't see the patch at all. I've had a rusted out spot on my refrigerator for some time. It's a bad design at the icemaker and water dispenser that allowed water to get under the finish. I sanded this down and applied this Rust-Oleum appliance paint -- and it is perfect! No one would ever know there was a 5" rusted out spot. The surface is as hard as a baked-on finish. Fortunately my appliances are all white because I don't think they make this fantastic paint in any other colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good results, good price, easy application I have had some mold on my refrigerator in Florida because of an A/C failure when we were away. I cleaned it up but it has been causing rust and was looking lousy. I think I did a good prep job with sanding with sandpaper, 60 to 220 to 330. Application with a foam brush and foam roller was pretty easy. I did a Question and they said that no prep was necessary even on bare metal. I just needed to do the door and it came out great. I used three coats because there were a few bare metal spots. I probably could have gotten by with 2, but subsequent applications after the prep is done was pretty easy, why not be sure? My wife "noticed" that the dishwasher didn't look great. It had some red scratch spots that we don't know what caused it but I did that as well. I just finished the first coat which looks OK but will put on another coat primarily because there was one rusted spot that was not great after one coat. After 3 coats on the fridge door and 2 on the dishwasher door I still have 1/3 of a single can left for $15. A good deal. One other person mentioned that when using the roller it looks like bubbles are appearing but this goes away and ends up with a flat glossy finish. I plan on putting a coat of car wax on both before we leave to give some additional protection. I'll try the side of the fridge first to make sure there are no issues. I have no idea of long term durability but the initial results have been much better than I expected.

Old refrigerator worked perfectly but exterior was pitted, stained and had rust spots. I thought i would try to paint it before getting a new appliance. Paint was extraordinary. Washed down the fridge with soap and water and applied the paint with a soft 6" roller. I also bought some small 1" brushes to do next to the handles. One coat does it with some touch up over the big stains and rust spots. Looks brand new. About 1/2 a quart is enough for a refrigerator. Highly recommend product.
