Questions & Answers

can this chalkboard paint be used on laminate countertops?

Asked by: tlyorkie
Yes it can I have done it myself, of course you will need a good sealer over the top. I used polycyilic. I have painted my countertops a couple of times over the years and the chalkboard is the cheapest way to go, and it stays on better and is tougher provided you do the sealer. I love my countertops, will never use anything else.

Where can we see samples of these colors?

Asked by: C
Be careful when selecting color chip on the can are darker than the real tinted color. Example: -banner blue - appears to be a dark navy blue on the side of the can. In reality - color is a shade slightly darker than royal blue. I had the paint tinted twice - trying to acheive navy color without success. The purple was the same issue - can color appeared darker than the real color. I ended up trying the banner blue because the paint tinting staff convinced me that it would be fine since the color dries darker. Which is true but the color still wasn't navy.

Do I have to paint two coat on the wall?

Asked by: EveR
I just talked to my maintenance man about doing this and he says he uses two coats but that he uses a foam roller rather than brushes or a standard paint roller cover. He said he painted a door in a unit doing this and said I would not need any special primer or treatment, just give it two coats like any standard painting or staining project. I am going to use it to make several chalkboards and attach them to the fence in our apartment garden so the kids can play outside while the parents sit and watch:))

29 oz. Tintable Chalkboard Paint is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can easily roll this I read a review stating that the package was incorrect and you couldn't roll this paint. Completely untrue! I have painted this stuff multiple times and it always rolls great. You have to use a super smooth foam roller and your coats should be thin as they always should be when rolling paint. Maybe if you just dipped the roller into the paint and didn't roll it out on tray like you are suppose to then I can see it becoming an issue but otherwise this is a simple application with foam roller. Creates a super smooth untextured finish. As a side note I would sand the wall smooth and clean first if that is what you are painting. Don't skip steps you won't have the finish product you are looking for.

Schoolhouse green was the perfect color. Two coats gave very good coverage and the texture of the paint is just right for the table top.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful color I got this chalkboard paint in the Chocolate Brown, rather than black, for my son's room to use on one wall. I love the color! It matches his room, better than black, and same effect for chalking. You have to wait 4 hours to apply the second coat, but you will need to! First coat is thin and sketchy. Easy to apply though. You will most likely need 3 coats. So, for one wall, plan on getting 3 of these 29 0z. cans. It's worth it! So different, that it was much more pleasurable painting ..knowing u can write on it later! Easy to clean up! I only wish I could get by with one coat, like the paint n primer in one. Or, that they made this in a GALLON size! By the way, you don't need any primer before painting chalkboard paint:) It grabs any surface well:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Stuff I got a gender neutral color (deep teal) to do various projects. It went on really easily and the color is beautiful. I recommend you put it on with a sponge roller instead of a brush. When it dries if there are bumps it makes it hard to write on with chalk. The directions say you need 2 or 3 coats, but I definitely needed 3 coats. I painted it onto metal and it worked wonderfully. I'm currently searching for more projects to use this with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used with their Magnetic Primer I used Raspberry over their gray Magnetic Primer on a huge wall in my basement. Raspberry was not as bright because of dark primer, but both products work well. This was easy to do and my kids love it!! I have a functional accent wall.
