A:Â I used this spray paint on an outside item. It seems to me that it was gritty but personally I would not trust it underfoot with soap and water underfoot also!

A:Â Happy to help. Rust-Oleum Stops Rust MultiColor Textured Spray Paint provides a durable protective coating with excellent resistance to rust, and excellent resistance to abrasion, fading, chipping, and dulling. While applying a clear coat is not required, it will provide added protection. An excellent clear coating would be Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Crystal Clear Spray Paint. The clear can be applied over the Textured in under 1 hour, or after 48 hours of the last coat of Textured.

Great Product But Beware of Fumes
The fumes from this paint are extremely overpowering. If your project is an indoor one, I advise you to wear an N95 face mask as that is tighter than the inexpensive ones we use for Covid. The paint really needs to be used outdoors only, but I did not have that option with my project. The paint does not cover all that well in comparison to a can of spray paint without texture. I had to use two cans for a 2X3 foot area (the floor of a fiberglass shower) and there are still some lighter areas. I suppose the medium used for the texture is the reason for this. But the floor does look good and the texture is just a light roughness. Another word of caution for you is that the paint fumes remain in the room, migrating to the rest of the house, for at least three days. I had the bedroom windows open and window fans blowing the air out, but the fumes kept coming. Would I do it again? YES. The finished product is what I was after and that is very nice.

Painted a metal stand. The end result was very nice but this spray can was a little hard to spray evenly and the spray tip clogged frequently. Has a nice textured finish and color was even. Would recommend.

This is, quite honestly, the WORST SPRAY PAINT I'VE EVER USED! I bought 2 cans to cover a 2 drawer file cabinet. On the first can, it stopped spraying or clogged after a very short time - probably about 3/4 of the can was left. I then had to turn the spray nozzle, shake, or otherwise try all sorts of positions to get it down to about 1/4 can left, and by that time I had so many starts and stops, blotches, and other imperfections, the file cabinet looked terrible. I gave up on this can and started my second can (even though there was still product shaking around in the first can). The second can was worse - I only got it down to about half of the product left. But now that I started, I couldn't stop - so had to run to Home Depot (Returned the 2 cans as defective), and got two more. Both of these cans had similar issue - but I was out of options, so just kept shaking, turning the nozzle, trying new angles, and getting very tired of pressing the nozzle down to find nothing happening. In the end, I got both of these cans to near zero product left, but it took a LOT of starts and stops, and because of that, was blotchy. I have never had new cans of paint perform this poorly. On top of that, coverage was terrible - after 2 full cans and 2 partial cans, it's splotchy, and while you can't see the original (gray) file cabinet color, there are a lot of spots that are a grayish tint and really ought to get more paint - but I'm DONE with this paint, and it's going to do as-is. This paint is terrible - the nozzle is just not designed correctly to let this paint (which includes sand or some similar grit) flow through the nozzle. The photos don't show the blotchiness as well as it looks in real life - I've spray painted plenty of things over the years, and never had a spay paint job take this much work or come out this way. In the end, the file cabinet does not look terrible - but if I was starting over, I would absolutely NOT paint with this product again... Oh, and to be complete, I'll add that I followed the directions completely - the can was always sprayed from an upright position, at the recommended distance from the work. I shook the can for about 2 minutes before starting the job, and frequently during the job. In the end, I've probably got 5 coats on this - but it's hard to be exact, since there was so much stopping and starting and overlapping is difficult when you are constantly looking at the can and not the work. This is clearly a poor nozzle design...

Oh no, we understand your frustration, Steve! Rust-Oleum Stops Rust MultiColor Texture Spray will not cover quite as well as solid colors, due to the texture of the finish and the flecked color appearance. To assist with the coverage of the product, you can apply a solid base coat of paint or primer that is close to the color of the Multicolored paint. Try spraying the can upside down for a few seconds. If that doesn't work, wiping the nozzle with mineral spirits should clear it out. It is also very important to vigorously shake the can for 1 minute beforehand as well as during application to ensure any settled pigment is dispersed. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

I bought 2 cans of this paint, and I was totally disappointed in both. The paint did not seem to mix well, even though I shook the cans a lot. When the paint came out it was thin and had no texture to it. And I had issues with the paint coming out of the can. Would not buy again!
