Questions & Answers

Can this be used to cut laminate flooring or or do I need to purchase a differente blade?

Asked by: Lizzie
It can, BUT, the blade that comes with the saw is too coarse, producing a rough cut. Your best bet is to use a thinner blade with more teeth to produce a smooth cut. (and from experience, the saw is not aligned with its plate so it is hard to get parallel cuts(.

Yes, but you won't want to use it. It's a good instrument at a great price. Use the savings to buy a good blade, you won't be disappointed.

13-Amp 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 419.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! Used exclusively for stone cutting so far I bought this to use for cutting Unilock wall block for a DIY wall project. I have the Ryobi one+ circular saw but it's a smaller blade and I honestly thought whatever I used on the wall project would get burned out by the time I was done. So I actually bought this with the intention of using it once. I also bought the Avanti Pro 7 in. Turbo Diamond Blade to go with it. At $55 total it was still less than renting a stone saw and it gave me flexibility on the time I took to complete the job. So being a "throw away" saw didn't feel so bad. Not only did it complete my project with ease, I loaned it to a friend who used it to make all the edge cuts on a 20X20 Unilock paver patio. Probably 100+ paver cuts. And for what it's worth that was still with the original blade, which was a bonus. After all that it still works and looks good as new! Never bogged down on cutting stone, but make sure you have the right blade for the job, with the right blade it should be powerful enough for most things.

I bought this and the first time I used it I noticed that I can't get a straight cut, after about a foot or two of cutting the blade will start wandering towards the right. I tried various straight edges and saw blades and finally I noticed when using it that if you gently press down on the handle the whole plastic body of the saw will flex forcing the blade to lean causing it to start cutting towards the right instead of straight. Buy a better circular saw than this, this one is going into the trash.

I am a huge Ryobi fan, my shop is full of Ryobi tools, but after today this will not be one of them. I bought this saw to break down plywood, mostly 3/4 inch, Set up the saw according to the manual, but not my first circular saw, so I had some ideal what needed to be done. I sawed my first piece, the picture included, cut like butter and I was trilled to have another great Ryobi tool in my collection. Second cut had to be at a 5 degree and while the saw seemed to have to work much harder to do that, it did the job. Third cut, back to 90 degree cut, using a straight edge to insure a straight cut, my wife who is also a pretty good craftsman watching over my shoulder. The saw bogged down about half way through, both sides of the piece were well supported and when I got through it, found that my piece was not only burnt but no where even close to a straight line. I checked to make sure everything on the saw was tight, that my straight edge had not moved, the saw blade itself was firmly set. Set up for another cut, still 3/4 inch plywood still using a straight edge like I've done many times before with other saws and it did the very same thing again. Maybe it is just a very cheap blade, or maybe the saw is just not stable, but which every it destroyed a good piece of plywood and caused me at least a day of shop time, so I can go find a saw I can depend on. I hope I just ended up with a lemon, but I can't afford to take that chance again, going back to the store in the morning.

An okay circular saw for the price, but do yourself a favor and immediately throw the blade in the garbage and buy a decent one. If you leave the original blade on you will likely start questioning your ability to perform simple tasks such as ripping a straight line . Once i threw a $15 blade on, the difference was like night and day. Another thing to note, the miter adjustment is way off. When set to 0, it's not really square. I had to adjust it using a square. If you're just going to use it on a few things here and there, it's okay for the price (after a new blade). If you plan on using a circular saw frequently, save up and get something a little better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from after two units did the same thing im done... Bought the first one and within a couple weeks it became really loud, like obnoxiously loud!! Took it completely apart and couldnt find anyrhing visibly wrong. Took it back and exchanged it for a new one thinking it was just a lemon and this one will be better. Wrong, within 3 weeks of just sporadic use it started doing the same thing! Vibrating like crazy and so loud it scared the neighbors. Ill always give Ryobi a chance but dont bother with this one!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from first circular saw I’ve ever bought I’m a new homeowner and needed a saw for some small projects I have around the house. Did a little research and found that the saw came highly recommended from my neighbors. I was told to buy a replacement blade right away I agree with the statement as I did not do that. The blade that came with the saw only lasted for about a week. After replacing the blade it works significantly better. I would recommend this for any beginner as it is not a high end saw

I bought this saw because it was the cheapest one and I am using it to cut rocks while spraying it with a garden hose, so I wanted something I would not feel bad about ruining. This thing has exceeded my expectations! Your diamond blade will last longer, require less power, and produce no dust if you flood the cut with water, just make sure you're using a GFCI and rubber gloves.

The steel blade that comes with it is junk. I stop buying these corded circular saws years ago because they were getting to heavy and cumbersome to handle because of the torque and the weight of the tool. This one is lighter and does the job with plenty of power provided you use a carbide blade.
