Does this nailer require oil before using?

Does this nailer require oil before using?
Asked by: Olphart
Thanks all. I have a number of pneumatic nailers and staplers, and understand the need for oil in them. Having never had a cordless/airless, I just wanted to make sure oil wasn't needed maybe in a different way, like was suggested wiping the channel with an oily swab – which makes total sense. I have an immediate need for this tool, so I wanted to be prepared to use it immediately.

18-Volt ONE+ AirStrike Brad Nailer Kit is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 195.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this tool to build heavy duty lattice trellises... I bought this tool to build heavy duty lattice trellises for my wife's vining plants. I had to build them as any lattice panels that are available didn't meet my required dimensions. This battery operated brad nailer really sped up the assembly process. I shot 1000 brads with zero missed strikes or jams on 3 battery charges. If I would have hammered that many brads by hand it would have stretched my project into days instead of one day. The Ryobi power brad nailer is intuitively simple to use and for being a bit bulky, it is a fairly ergonomic design. The grip safety turns on the leds and the firing trigger is light enough that it doesn't make your hands tired after many strikes. This tool is pretty efficient as well with a battery charge setting an average of over 300 3/4" brads.

Purchased to remedy squeaky floorboards and build some crude cabinet shelving. The nailer jams occasionally when using 2in brads in hardwood or doesn't drive it all the way into material even after adjustment (see image). Have a hammer and punch on hand if your pushing this tool to its limit. Would be nice if nailer were lighter and as quiet as a pneumatic one. I felt the price was reasonable. Side note: The packaging was really beat up in shipping, thin box was crushed and scratched with packaging tape holding it back together. I'm concerned about my battery being damaged from the warning stickers on the side of the box.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from trash Its heavy, it doesnt do its job, it jams regularly. I travel for work, thought this would be great since we cant fly with air compressors. Every 20 or so nails they hang out about an inch. The battery lasts forever, but if youre a professional looking for a shortcut, not it. Our company has like 6 and they all equally suck. For a dyi situation its probably great, but wont replace your compressor and gun in a commercial setting!

This is perfect although a little heavier than what I'm used to but it is a way to build more muscle!!! I am a "senior" person and woodworking is a hobby. I like the idea of the battery being very easy to remove and the same with the section to remove/add the nails....and it is partly an air gun without the hose etc. Cordless...how sweet is that? It takes a variety of nail sizes from 5/8" up to 2". All the other corded or cordless nail guns went to 5/8 inch. Can't nail down much with that now can you? A great addition to my shop tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ! Easy to use. I did all... Excellent ! Easy to use. I did all my quarter round molding with ease. Easy to load, settings are easy to adjust. Just be careful to remove the battery every time you load and unload and when clearing a jam. If it jams, be sure to face the Nailer away from you, when I cleared the jam it shot up in the air and went a couple of feet. I am very pleased with this Nailer. .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Generally acceptable Have only used once. Project required 2" nails. Of about 100 nails had about 3 jams. Also had a point of failure meaning fired with no nail. Happened about 2/3 through project. Shot about 15 blanks that I did not notice. Opened and closed nail holder and it resumed working? Went to use it about 3 weeks later failed due to low battery. Charged and fine.

I bought it to use while changing all the baseboards and door molding in my house. I would have otherwise done it with a hammer and a nail set. So much faster and cleaner this way! I have never used a nail gun before, and did not want to buy a compressor and air hoses and all that. This tool did the job far beyond my expectations.

Next project it no longer fired nails. Sounded like it wanted to work, but no nails. Checked the trouble shooting instructions with no success. Glad it was within the return period. Also, it’s a bit heavy when working over your head for long periods of time.
