I have had this drill for a while, and I love it. However, my one battery barely holds a charge anymore. Can you direct me to a replacement battery and/or battery-charger set that will function with this unit? Thanks!

Do not believe the total interchangable story as it relates to ni-cad batteries. The lithium batteries WILL NOT fit in the ni-cad charger (as told to me by a totally uninformed customer service associate!!!! I purchased lithium replacements when told they'd work only to be disappointed when they did not fit in the charger.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pros & Cons The Ryobi 18 Volt Cordless is a decent drill at the price point. We have purchased these drills for our employees for many years. The self-tightening chucks seem to slip quite often. Occasionally the chucks seem to be out of alignment and do not turn in perfect circles. Batteries wear out after about a year of service and are a major expense issue. Otherwise, the drill has survived falls from eight foot ladders. The torque and strength and 1600 RPM speed are quite sufficient. The load settings are simple and adequate for most projects. We use these drills daily with one battery in the charger as backup and rotation. The retail price point is the major draw for our firm. At the given retail we can employ these drills for designated period about one year and replace drill and batteries. Our experience has indicated that most cordless drills, even the higher priced, begin to fail in about twelve months given daily usage. Best bang for the buck.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great drill terrible batteries You can charge the battery and in a few hours they go dead without using them ,when charged they only last a few minuets while in use after charging for hours

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just ok I've had this drill for a few years and frankly I'm a little surprised it's still available. It's an ok entry level drill but do yourselves a favor and spend a little more money to get an entry level lithium powered drill. Unless you're VERY careful about breaking in and maintaining the batteries they're dead after a couple of years. Also the chuck does a poor job of gripping the bits allowing them to slip in moderate to harder usage. It's also little on the large side compared to some of the more recent compact yet powerful 18v designs. Wait for a sale and buy better more almost the same price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Battery won’t last long I bought a few Ryobi 18v drills not long ago and now both batteries won’t take a charge. My other older drills (non Ryobi) that don’t look as cool and were cheaper are still working strong. Ryobi should do a recall on the batteries in my opinion. You’ll be lucky to use the drill for a year before the battery needs replacing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good Drill, terrible chuck and expensive baterys At first the drill seemed pretty good, then the battery issues started, fortunately it also takes the lithium battery's from another Ryobi product that I purchased. Trying to do a fairly large simple project I found that the chuck was barely adequate. Drilling into wood the chuck would slip continually and had to be tightened after each and every use or the drill bit would fall out. After getting frustrated enough I discovered that it was fairly sturdy when I threw it against the floor in disgust. Might be good for occasional use but definitely not for large projects.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only lasted 9 months I wanted to like this drill. And for awhile I did. I've owned two of these, and two of them have broken within a year of purchase. They both broke while drilling into some hard-ish wood...driving screws in. Something internal broke. The motor still works but whatever it is that connects the motor to the spinning part (I'm not super technical with my drill knowledge) broke. After the first one broke, I bought another, assuming it was just a defective one. But the same thing happened with the other one I bought. Anyway, when it was working this was great. But that's the problem...how long will the next one last? I think I'll buy a different brand elsewhere...
