Does this come with a blade? How many?

Asked by: Greg
One tiny cheap "all purpose" blade. This is a narrow, 3"-4" blade.

Where can I get more blades?

I look everywhere for a blade that can cut through metal still could not find any
Asked by: Robbin
the only blades that work correctly are the ridgid universal t-shank blades, from homedepot but of course they are not selling them at the moment.. this is rediculious.... if they sale ryobi work tools then they should have the correct blades to go with it... I am sending my ryobi back and going to Lowes to find me a jigsaw but they are just as bad!!! I have looked for the ridgid blades online and no where are they selling them. WHAT IS UP WITH THIS!!!

4.8 Amp Variable Speed Orbital Jig Saw is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 385.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase! No Regrets I'm familiar with using a jig saw but have not owned one until now. I bought this jig saw for home repairs and specifically, to install bamboo flooring. This jig saw does a great job cutting through the bamboo (with appropriate blade of course). I like the T blade design and I understand why Ryobi is phasing out the old fast release style. I was told that other companies have begun following the safety change too. I like the compact size of the tool. My hands don't fatigue while in use and the light guide is very helpful. I opted for this corded model because I don't want to worry about a battery dying in the middle of my projects. I can pull my hair up, secure boobs, safety goggles on, plug in and start cutting.

I earlier used Dewalt and Milwaukee, but after a year and a half of construction work I find Ryobi is as good - if not better - than many of the big-name products. Ryobi is robust and lasts a long time. And far cheaper! However, this particular product has got a problem with the locking lever of the bottom plate. I lock it at an angle but as soon as I start cutting, the lever gets disengaged and the plate shifts. The result is that the cutting angle changes and my work is ruined. I am going to take this product back to Home Depot for an exchange. This does not in any way reduce my loyalty for Ryobi. I still stand by their range of products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this saw Avoid this jig saw at all costs! It is designed to only support a proprietary Ryobi blade shape (T and U) and will not fit other manufacturer's T-shank blades. A normal T-shank is slightly longer than the shape the Ryobi accepts and the locking mechanism will not fully lock if you put another manufacturer's blade in it. I went back to home depot and they told me they don't sell blades that fit the saw and to look online. When I researched online it appears that Ryobi no longer sells the blades that fit this online or at home depot. I will be returning this to home depot to pickup another jigsaw....a jigsaw isn't any good if you don't have blades to use with it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so very good This was my first jigsaw purchase. Being a little wary of Ryobi's quality/longevity, i bought this on sale for $30. Well, it has worked a charm and I feel that I have gotten my money's worth - I have put this saw through its paces and it keeps on going. Just make sure to use good T-shank blades and try to pick the right one for what you're cutting. The saw has a variable speed dial and a few different settings for the degree of orbital cutting depending on material being cut. Do your homework and you'll be pleased with it. For the price and with a 3-year Ryobi warranty (keep your receipt!) you don't have much to lose!

It doesn't cut straight however and I had to get used to that and adapt. The blade twists to the left and I had to shift the saw a few degrees and hold that angle for the blade to cut true. That's annoying and why I gave it a three star. For a few small projects it's fine, but if I were using it a lot I would have returned it and tried something else that cuts a bit more true. Also, it only comes with one multi-purpose blade. The person that assisted my wife sent her home with the "wrong" universal blade which held up our project. Make sure you purchase "T-Shank" blades for this. U-Shank will not work, period.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good and quiet saw I needed saw to help me cut off some wood needed for fascia board replacement. I noticed it is not overly powerful, although is rated at amply 4.8A/576Watts. That's how it is quieter, it is kind of choking on wood knots. If you have more patience than me, it would be the perfect jig saw. When you push it too hard and it cannot eat up the wood, the blade will distort sideways and cut wrong, this affects all jigsaws. It is a nice and sturdy little saw though. The bottom plate is ok, but I think ryobi need to work more on the design of the latch that changes the angle of cutting. It can come unhooked and swivel during cutting. I had to tighten it myself and after some cutting, debris and dirt seem to have settled in and solved the problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for cutting straight. I was overall generally happy when I first purchased this tool: low price, powerful motor, adjustable speed and orbit, and adjustable angle. However, the biggest drawback with this tool is that the base is only held on with one bolt with a cam-action lock. When you want to cut a straight line using the base against a guide, the tool can still pivot even though the base is perfectly aligned with the guide. This causes the blade to wander regardless of how thick or high quality it is. No amount of tightening will get rid of the +/- 5 degree pivoting that occurs. Even on a short 4" cross cut, you will get a wavy edge. I have tried the same model from a neighbor, and his does the same thing. I find this intriguing since all the other Ryobi jigsaws, even the cordless version, have 2 bolts holding the base, yet this unit is still being sold and has not been revised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and did the job without much need for experience I have never used this type of saw before but needed to cut a hole in an exterior door for a pet door. It was very easy to use and handle. I did watch a couple youtube videos to make sure I didn't lose a finger but the instructions included were enough for me to get going in a few minutes. The person who helped me recommended this brand over B&D due to quality issues. This saw was strong and steady. It cuts very quickly so you need to pay close attention to what you're doing. The variable speeds are great.
