After opening garage door to work inside, i'll turn laser off from wall panel, after a couple minutes it turns on again, over & over. Any suggestions, or is unit defective?

Look at your GDO app and see if you have configured the laser. It is set to activate when tripping the safety sensors on the door. If you go into the app on your phone you can temporarily turn that feature off.

How does it work?

How does this laser assist in Parking your car? Does it sound an audible alarm when you get where you're supposed to be? I'm just interested in learning what it actually does...especially since it's cheaper to buy this than it is to buy the fan.

just a red dot that you set on your hood or wiper blade.very bright beam,I use 2 beams on the hood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It seems like I've always had a garage that was... It seems like I've always had a garage that was a tight fit for my cars. So in the past I've glued 2x6 pieces and hung strings from ceilings to guide me in aiming and stopping our cars at the right place so they fit when parked. The laser is a great answer which allows a neat and accurate way to park precisely. I aimed it so it runs up the hood of the car centered on the steering wheel as I pull in and stops as it shines through the windshield at a rib on the top of the dash. No more tripping on the 2x6 when the car is out in the driveway.

It's very quiet and is adjusted to slow down when it lowers the door. The laser lets me know when I'm in the right place. I also had a Ryobi drill and found out I could use the battery from the drill on the garage door opener .

I removed the cover from the add-on port on the GDO, placed the laser on the port and it was up and running. All I had to do was aim the lasers where I wanted them, and set how long I wanted them on at a time on the Ryobi GDO app. So far it has worked perfectly

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great idea with some very important limitations This was my first accessory purchase for the GD200 Ryobi garage door opener. I can see right away why there are mixed reviews. The unit works exactly like it's supposed to for my situation. I have a very specific situation where I have a one car garage. My door opener head unit is right above my car. The lasers point right onto my dash in a perfect spot. The flexibily and adjustment range of the laser positioning is very limited, about 90 degrees right or left and about the same up or down. Both lasers have about the same range of motion so if you can't get it right with one, the other will be useless as well. Its too bad they didn't design the lasers with more flexibility. It works great for me though, so I would recommend trying it if you already have an open spot available on your GDO. I would definitely keep the receipt as I can see it definitely won't work for everyone.
