The company that designed these openers for Home Depot has been given an injunction to stop selling them until 2023 due to patent infringement. Here is the link from Chamberlain explaining the injunction they were granted the week of May 23rd, 2018: http://www.chamberlaingroup.com/2018/05/24/permanent-injunction-granted-to-chamberlain-group/#comment-1988 I'm wondering why they are still for sale on the Home Depot web site.

Is the battery backup included?
Asked by: Steve
No. You have to buy that separately. If you happen to use the Ryobi One+ tool system, you can use one of the batteries from that. If you don't, or don't have a spare, you can buy one separately. The largest battery that will fit under the battery cover is the "P108", rated at 4 Ah. Ryobi's new 6 Ah and 9 Ah batteries are too big. You can plug them in, but the battery cover won't close.

Does this opener come with a hard-wired wall switch for the interior garage wall?

Got mine two days ago. Confirm it has wireless remote indoor keypad only. I notice it also has two screws at the back of the remote to hook wires on. I will try to test with that.

Does this unit only rin on the lithium ion battery or is there 110 plug in as well?

Is the battery a back up in case of power outagesor is it the primary source of power?
Asked by: Tmack05
Primarily operates on wall power. Battery is only used if the power goes out (or I guess if you unplug it).

Ultra-Quiet 2 HP Belt Drive Garage Door Opener with Battery Backup is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 108.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ryobi GD200 so far I love it!! Purchased the GD200 when it was on sale @ Homedepot.com for $148, bought 2. Installed the 1st one and it took me a while due to he garage temp was 95 with humidity. Instruction was straight forward and i did have to call tech support because i had issues with the travel limit programming but tech support guy (Zig?) was very helpful. Finish with the rest of the installation, keypads, wireless indoor keypad, outdoor keypad, car remote and wifi connectivity system and the app. Everything was simple to hook up. As for the audible sound that people here are complaining about as you open or close the GD, it’s negligible. The sound of a fork truck is more irritating than the audible coming from the GDO. It’s a safety thing since this GDO is uber quiet. The app is just fine and so far no connection problem as long as you have a wifi extender in your house. I tested opening remotely via app about 0.25 mile and it opened. TMy only gripe with app is it says “Garage Closes” or Garage Opens” in the future tense.

The modular part of the GDO is revolutionary. I have several attachments already and intend on purchasing several more. By far, my favorite is the retractable extension cord. My garage only has one outlet in it, so charging my power tools is a real pain. The extension cord attachment solved all of my problems. The only downside to the GDO is the app is buggy. I've contacted Ryobi technical support and they told me to wait a few days as they were releasing an update. It's been two months, still no update. My app no longer closes my garage door, it only opens it. The app also states that my door has been closed since April 7, 2017. If there is a reset on the device, I'd sure like to know about it. The garage door is pretty quiet. My wife and I have startled each other by walking into the house as we hadn't heard the door open. You only hear it if you're in the garage, even then it is just a small whine when the motor is kicking in. The loudest part is the garage door itself, I can't hear the opener over the sound of the garage door retracting and closing. The only other noise is a small buzzer that goes off to let people know it is closing. Toted as a safety feature, I find it kind of obnoxious. If someone was near the door when it was shutting, they would surely set off the sensors and prevent it from operating, so it is a redundant loud noise, but only goes off for about 5 seconds before continuing with its closing operation in silence. 4 stars due to a buggy app.

It's a competent door opener. Some of the innovative features need some refinement Pros: - Installation was reasonably easy. - Upper and lower limits of door travel, once adjusted, stay adjusted. - Works when line power goes out with battery backup. - The remotes are small and unobtrusive. - Can use a Ryobi One+ battery for backup power (opens and closes when the line power is out.) - It also charges and maintains the backup battery, which is especially convenient if you already use that system for your tools. Cons: - By no reasonable definition could this opener be considered "equivalent" to a 2 HP opener. It opens a pretty ordinary 16'x7' door in about 12 seconds - Sure the motor's quiet, but the unit makes an annoying constant pitch tone while closing. I get that it's for safety, but an intermittent beep would have been more effective and easier on the ears. Motor noise would have been better. - As advertised the unit should maintain charge on the backup battery. Mine did not at first, and I had to use a separate charger and swap out the batteries. If you have this situation, Call Ryobi's tech support line, and they should be able to correct this issue. - Remote range is short. Unreliable when the distance is more than 40 ft. (from the unit). - The laser parking assist attachment is a great idea, but lacks in implementation. The lasers can be aimed in only a very limited direction, so it only works well if you mount it on the side, not the front or back. If you have a two-car garage, you need to buy two park-assist boxes, even though each one has two lasers. This could be fixed by giving the lasers a greater range of adjustment. - The attachments trip over each other. If you have a laser park assist, depending on where you want to park your car you not be able to use the power extension cord or the air hose reel on that side. If you are using two laser assists for a car on each side, then you can not use the extension cord or air pump at all. This also could be fixed (in Ryobi's design) by giving the lasers a greater range of adjustment. - It is too easy to accidentally engage the "vacation mode" from the keypad. - The air hose attachment may have the same pump as the Ryobi P731 (they sound the same). The P731 is much more useful. Suggestions to Ryobi: - Stop pretending that this is a 2 HP unit. You could call it a "high torque" unit or something like that., to be reasonably accurate. - Change the warning tone for closing. Make it short beeps instead of a single tone. - Among the attachments, a battery charger would be useful. It would be convenient to maintain 1-2 batteries in a central location in the garage without tying up a wall outlet plug. - The laser parking assist would be much more useful if it had wider range of adjustability. - Find a way to make the “vacation mode” harder to engage inadvertently. Maybe redesign the wall unit to put a flip-up cover over the vacation mode button, like the arming switch in a warplane.

We purchased this opener 7-27-16 and had it professionally installed through Home Depot contractors. At purchase we were sold on the idea of the app online to be able to open and close the GDO and check it while away from the house. We also liked the gadgets that came with the product. Pros - Online apps that worked with your cell Cons - Everything else - 1) tried since day one to sync with vehicle - never would (after replacing - was no problem to sync new GDO with all vehicles) 2) after several months of normal use, tracking limits had to be set almost daily as it would malfunction constantly 3) sensors always had issues even with sunlight, and 4) outside keypad never worked (even after regular attempts to do so). I had this unit maybe a bit over a year and it totally quit. Resetting the tracking limits didn't work again. Called customer support and was told it was something we were doing. Finally just replaced the whole thing. Save yourself the hastle and money and steer clear of Ryobi, you will be glad you did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome modular garage door opener that I would recommend to others. Folks, this is a great garage door opener and the installation using their available video made the install very easy. One of the main concerns I read about and experienced was the wifi setup. I spent sometime trying to get it setup using my Android Galaxy S8 and couldn't get it going. I then took my wife's iphone and tried the same setup and it completed on the first try. once it was setup, I could log back into my Android phone and all features and notifications are now working. Not sure if it's the platform of the device, but seems like a iphone works better on the initial wifi setup. Just to mention, I tried multiple Android phones, and none worked to correctly setup all the steps, but 1 try with an iphone and everything configured within less than a few minutes. Hope this helps with the wifi part and it would be nice if others could confirm the same experience. This might help Ryobi better their App on the Android platform.

The physical design is really nice, it appears built durable for a long life and it opens and closes the garage door quietly as advertised. To the bad. The built in Wi-Fi in this opener is absolute GARBAGE. It has trouble with Google's Mesh home Wi-Fi devices (and other mesh solutions), meaning if it connects to any of the mesh hubs them all having the same SSID in the mesh network, the GD200/201 requires a fresh Wi-Fi setup each time. This can happen on a daily basis If you happen to have at least two mesh nodes near the GD200 as it will be constantly changing between the two nodes nbased on signal strength, thus you will be completing the Wi-Fi setup over and over. In my opinion this is just inferior programatic design on Ryobi's part and should be a major point of embarrassment for Ryobi (although I don't think they care). Equally bad is the code behind the Wi-Fi setup within the app. When I say "code" I mean the API (Application Programming Interface" that talks between your phone (app) and the the garage door opener itself. This API is a cloud based (over the internet) connection and it is down FREQUENTLY. Meaning if Ryobi's servers go down, you can not use the app on your phone to open and close your garage door AND let me tell you this has happened more than a few times and for hours at a time, sometimes days at a time. This problem is something a serious company would not allow to happen, only "Mickey Mouse" companies have these types of issues. Apparently Ryobi is in the business of Mickey... In summary, if you do not care about Wi-Fi or apps and you just need a good garage door opener than I can certainly recommend the GD200/201 from Ryobi. On the other hand if you want to use your device via app to open and close your garage door, STAY AWAY, you will NOT BE HAPPY.

I bought this unit to replace an almost 20 year old Craftsman opener. First the good, this unit is quiet. Now the bad. The wall control unit only works within about 6 inches as installed. When I contacted Ryobi, they told me to open the wireless receiver on top of the unit and extend an antenna. I did this and the range went from 6 inches to about 3 feet unless I hold the wall control above my head and then it's 5 feet and that only works to turn the light on and off. The wireless keypad is cumbersome. If you enter the code too fast, it doesn't work. If you enter it too slow, it doesn't work. I was told to press 0 after entering the code but that doesn't work all the time either. Sometimes I have to press it, sometimes I don't. I tried to call Ryobi support for troubleshooting after being told to call by the online support. Was on hold for 10 minutes and the system hung up on me. Called back and was told I was calling outside normal business hours (8am-8pm EST). While I was close, I had called before they closed. Thinking about returning this unit.

I really wanted this to work, but there are too many flaws that I can no longer put up with. The good: it looks great! It’s quiet, system actually connected like it was supposed to, and I love the fact that I could add accessories. Like I said, I was very excited to start using this. The bad: 1. the flashing lights while the door is going down is very disorienting at night. No way around it. It wakes my kids up, and makes us trip over stuff. This is just a horrible design flaw. No doubt lawyers thought this one up! This alone is reason enough to return the opener. 2. None of the openers work consistently. They are very finicky. All 3 opener options (remote, indoor and outdoor keypads) were working fine during and right after installation, but they soon started to not work. Even the app takes a while to work. I go all the way to the top of the street before I see that the door is closed. At least it tells me, so that’s good. But seriously, it’s a huge pain when the openers don’t work. These 2 things caused me to return this. I’m disappointed because this is the unit I wanted in my garage.
