I put this rug down in our living room. The color is what was portrayed in the picture. Is it thick and lush, no not really but it's what I expected for the price. You can see the backing if you try by pushing the strands apart. I don't expect anyone to get on the floor and do that though. It is very soft feeling to the tootsies. I put a 1/4 inch pad under it. Overall I am very happy with it.
