Q:Is there the usual synthetic odor to deal with?

A:  Hello Kate! New Safavieh rugs may emit an odor. This odor is likely caused by the packaging material, dyes, fiber yarns, and or backing. These are all natural odors that are sometimes heightened after the rug has been sealed for shipping and/ or storage. The odor will dissipate within 1 - 2 weeks, after removing from the packaging.
