Questions & Answers

What’s the wait time to remove the tube before it see to the concrete?

Asked by: Madhatter
You generally don’t as it is in the ground. You can remove the part that shows after a couple of days, depending on your weather

How would these stack? Could they be taped together? I want a 12x60” form due to the slope in my yard. Thanks.

Asked by: Joe
I have found these tubes actually "nest" together for shipping/transport, so IF you were going to tape them together to make a longer tube, you would need to select tubes of the same diameter...good luck finding ones that match! If you could find ones that are the same diameter, I would use a pretty strong tape like the extra-wide Gorilla duct tape to hold them together. Concrete is VERY strong and will find a way to push that seam apart if it can. I agree with the one response that said buy the longer length tube and just cut it to length...less hassle that way and you know it will hold up under the pour.

More of a best practices question: I'm using one of these for a 4" by 6" gate post. I've dug a hole big enough for the tube. I'd like to know if I can leave the tube in place after I pour the concrete, and then back dirt around the outside. (Or, will the paper decompose and make the post wobble when the tube decomposes?) Thanks
Asked by: Postman6545
The paper will disintegrate over time. The purpose of the tube is to form your post and the you cut the tube off when the concrete has set. Normally, you would dig the hole into the ground to the specified depth and use the tube to form the column above ground level. Good luck with your project.

Customer Reviews

12 in. x 48 in. Tube for Concrete is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Concrete Tube Form This tube for concrete is just what we wanted/needed to make the concrete pillars as supports for the vertical posts for our backyard gazebo. It's lightweight & very easy to handle. The 12" diameter was perfect for the load though we didn't need that deep a pillar support in this TX climate. (Up north, the 48" would be just what we needed because of hard freezes and getting the concrete pillar below the frost line.) You are able to cut off some of the concrete form's height to the size wanted for your specific job. It's much better than just digging a hole and pouring concrete in, especially because with this tube you can have your concrete pillar extend above ground to attach your post to it rather than having your post attach to concrete at ground level (which is what you get by just pouring concrete in a hole) and thus making it vulnerable to rot. This product makes your project more long lasting by letting you raise the level of the concrete above ground. Great product. Simple, but perfect for the job.
