Questions & Answers

What’s the wait time to remove the tube before it see to the concrete?

Asked by: Madhatter
You generally don’t as it is in the ground. You can remove the part that shows after a couple of days, depending on your weather

How would these stack? Could they be taped together? I want a 12x60” form due to the slope in my yard. Thanks.

Asked by: Joe
I have found these tubes actually "nest" together for shipping/transport, so IF you were going to tape them together to make a longer tube, you would need to select tubes of the same diameter...good luck finding ones that match! If you could find ones that are the same diameter, I would use a pretty strong tape like the extra-wide Gorilla duct tape to hold them together. Concrete is VERY strong and will find a way to push that seam apart if it can. I agree with the one response that said buy the longer length tube and just cut it to length...less hassle that way and you know it will hold up under the pour.

More of a best practices question: I'm using one of these for a 4" by 6" gate post. I've dug a hole big enough for the tube. I'd like to know if I can leave the tube in place after I pour the concrete, and then back dirt around the outside. (Or, will the paper decompose and make the post wobble when the tube decomposes?) Thanks
Asked by: Postman6545
The paper will disintegrate over time. The purpose of the tube is to form your post and the you cut the tube off when the concrete has set. Normally, you would dig the hole into the ground to the specified depth and use the tube to form the column above ground level. Good luck with your project.

I used these as inexpensive storage units suspended from my garage ceiling. They worked great to hold all those scraps of wood and pipe that normally clutter the floor or lean in a corner. I recommend them to anyone with a DIY garage.
