What happened to it? Why is it discontinued everywhere?

    Answer This Question

It lacks the completion of real concrete, it does not hold up.

    By|Apr 22, 2020

ShapeCrete is a new collaborative innovation between Fu-Tung Cheng, master designer and founder of Cheng Concrete, and Sakrete. Sacrete used a core product of Cheng Concrete which is presently unavailable to Sacrete. The relationship is suspected to have ended about 1-2 years ago. Review the Sacrete site for an alternative, see: https://www.sakrete.com/products/fast-setting-concrete

        Answer This Question

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. We don't have an exact reason why this was discontinued but reasons vary from market demand to contracts we have with our vendors. We would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer directly for pricing and availability. Thank you for choosing The Home Depot.

        By|Apr 13, 2020

There was not enough of a demand for the product so we had to discontinue it.

          By|Jan 9, 2020

I only know of the one color type - grey. It dries a bit dark. I have colored it with tint used for grout and it works well though for white I think you would have to paint.

            By|Jan 9, 2020

No, it only comes in grey.

I do not know. Please contact the manufacturer and inquire whether your proposed mix would degrade its properties and benefits.

                    By|Jan 9, 2020

No, this cannot be mixed with foam. Unfortunately we do not have a material in our line that can be mixed with foam.

                        yes

                        By|Jan 9, 2020

I'm not sure what type of foam you're thinking about, but I doubt it. This is a dense 'powder' (like concrete mix, except finer and with tiny filaments in it) and I doubt that foam would provide enough moisture to make the Shapecrete workable. I don't know how large your septic tank covers are, but you could work with this material in a relatively thin layer if you put it over a wire mesh 'cover' shaped to fit over the septic cover.

I didn't . Used regular spray paint. Not sure what kind of paint you plan on using.

                          By|Jan 1, 2020

use a combination primer-paint ... so you will only paint once..

                            By|Dec 28, 2019

I would consult the paint manufacturer with this question. I have done it both ways myself in the past and not had too many adverse reactions either way. Some have flaked over the years, but I would definitely contact the manufacturer of the paint for a more definitive answer.

                              By|Jan 3, 2020

I would think so. Make sure you have paint for concrete.

I would not use this. Use: Quikrete Concrete Patch Compound.

No, you cannot use this product for that application. You will need to use the Fast Setting Cement Patcher and the Top N Bond product to raise that area up.

                                    By|Nov 27, 2019

It dries as hard as cement but it does take 30 days to fully cure. I would go with regular cement just to be safe.

Not much. It doesn't go far. It works good. I used some on curves on my concrete sidewalk that has stone but the product doesn't go far.

You will get approximately 4.5 sq ft per 20 lb bucket at 1/2" in thickness.

This product is intended for sculpture and craft work. I don't think this is the product you are looking for. Your question leads me to believe you want regular cement or a patching concrete product.

Shapecrete, when mixed correctly, has the constancy and works like wet sand at the beach and after it sets...concrete! There is a slight learning curve but the results are impressive. Product is fun to use. I had more luck pouring the concrete than using the shaping method. I gave this a 4-star as it is about 8x more expensive than regular concrete. This was my 1st adventure in concrete - I made some pots, some concrete flowers made from silicone molds and dipped some small plastic creatures in concrete - loved them all. I will be using the regular concrete in the future - if I can figure out how to get an 80 pound bag home. I'm not sure how to change my nickname 'disappointed', but I liked this product.

Shape Crete works quite well for my purpose in making garden stones and planters. A bit coarse for minor details, but certainly better than regular cement for the purpose. I also use it to make an embellishment cast in a silicone mold. Working time is about 15 minutes. It must cure for at least 24 hours before removal from forms.

Although more expensive than ordinary cement/concrete the benefits are amazing. I have very unlevel ground and paver areas and wanted to build stone walled gardens on top. Leveling the area and pavers was impossible but ShapeCrete provided the ability to create concrete bricks of any shape and thickness so the final stone walls are perfectly level.
