Q:I want to strip old boiled linseed oil finish from oak wood. Will Savogran phosphate-free do it? What about Savogran with trisodium phosphate?

Answer This Question

A:  Boiled linseed oil typically requires a solvent to remove. Especially if it’s been on something for a prolonged amount of time. You may be able to clean brushes/rollers or recent spills with TSP, but budging an old finish probably isn’t going to happen.

A:  Savogran tsp will probably do the job. That being said you need to pay attention for best results. If its possible, try to experiment with an area on the wood that won't be noticed to evaluate the effects. If not, try using a mild concentration to start. I know this answer a bit generic but, without knowing the specifics of the application it's the best I can offer.

A:  Yes. First, sand the cabinets a little, then clean with TSP. Rinse and wait until really dry, before painting.

I use it to clean walls before painting. I recommend using a 1 gal sprayer to distribute the solution. If the walls are grimy its not my go to.

Perfect for cleaning slime off of a wooden fence
A little TSP in warm water with some soap makes a great cleaner for a slimy fence, deck, or driveway. I cleaned more than 400 linear feet of fence (2,000 square feet) with a box of TSP and it was ready for stain as soon as it was dry.

        Water stains - nope
Worked OK I guess. But had some white water stain on cement floor from basement flooding. Thought this would get rid of that, but it didn't.

        Great Deck Cleaner
It's a good product for cleaning a deck prior to painting it. It dissolves easily. Adding a product like Oxiclean also helps remove algae, mold, and mildew.
