Questions & Answers

I'm a PROUD owner of the Adams Cooper Farmhouse sink...it has not been installed yet. Are these pads the best option?

Also, will the 9 pads be enough?
Asked by: Mel22
I researched a boatload of options, and these pads were easily the best for both cost and ease of installation. They do their job well, too - they really take the hollow booming sound out of a metal sink. As for how many pads you will need, for the best effect you need to cover most of the area of the walls of your sink. Just measure the walls of the sink, then figure out how many pads it will take to do the job. (Note: We found the bottom of the sink did not need to be done; but our sink is a double basin with two drain mounts. Those mounts and their bracing did a good job of taking out the boomy sound on the bottom of the sink. If yours has a single drain mount, though, you may want to put some pads on the bottom.)

I noticed a funny smell coming from this mat. it was already installed in the home I purchased . ( Under the bathroom sink) my concern is this : Are the materials in this item toxic? The smell reminds me of tar. I have a young daughter that I am concerned about and would like to know if the materials in this pad are toxic in any way shape or form?
Asked by: THD
Ours had a slight smell to them at first, but it went away. I suspect the product is tar based, but it has a sealed backing so once it's attached to the sink you can't touch the unsealed portion. I wouldn't think it would be a concern, but that's an individual decision. Also, there are a lot of smells that can be in an under sink cabinet - from paint, wood stain, or the adhesive of shelf paper if the cabinet was recently "touched up" for the sale of the house, or residual smells from chemicals that were stored there, and even smells coming from the drain. Try emptying the cabinet and leaving the door(s) open for a few days to air it out, and see if that solves the problem.
