Skilsaw should be better
Everyone else has told you all the good points. Here are the not so good points. The head for the bolt to remove the blade needs to be taller. The little wrench does not want to stay on the bolt head when removing the bolt. The lock lever for the blade depth is easy to unlock but it lays against the saw body in such a way that makes it hard to flip it back to the lock position. It's hard to get your finger or thumb to flip the lever and if you are wearing gloves, you will never get it. Somehow I have managed to crack the metal for the lever. The one thing about this saw that I can say that I actually hate, is the saw dust management or total lack thereof. When cutting 3/4 plywood today, the saw dust just explodes out from the saw in every direction. Nothing says fun like wearing safety glasses, getting pelted in the face and still getting dust in your eyes. This saw requires safety goggles or a complete mask and hat. I have used the diablo blade that came with the saw and other dewalt blades to see if there is a difference. No luck. Nearly zero saw dust manages to flow out through the chute on the blade cover. I need to get a different saw. Attached are pics of my skillsaw and makita saw, cutting the same board and using the same blade. Note the saw dust

Love it! This saw It replaced my older but more homeowner version of a Skil saw. The magnesium is super light! It’s rugged without any of the extra frills of unneeded lasers or gadgets. It’s a good smooth saw with sealed bearings, making it a 20+ year tool. (for a home owner)

    Look No Further
To start, I would like to say that I am far from a professional like most people on here. I would definitely consider myself a beginner and DIY-er who may never push this pro-grade saw to its full limits. With that being said, this saw served as an upgrade for my old Skil 5080 which was extremely difficult to handle due to its plastic construction. Wanting something more beefy that wouldn't have any messing around in the middle of cuts, I bought the sidewinder on a whim at my local home depot. Within its first use, this saw definitely proved its worth. Saying it cuts effortlessly would be a redundancy as many reviews have already pointed to its power. However, something less mentioned is just how easy this thing is to control. Unlike my previous saw, there was no flexing, vagueness in the chassis of the saw; once it's lined up, it is dedicated to cut a straight line and nothing but. Rip cuts, cross cuts, bevel cuts, you name it. Another great feature is the 0 and 45 marks are indicated in the front *and* the back of the saw, making the end of the cut just as precise as the beginning. Table angles and height adjustments are clearly marked and operate smoothly. The saw feels great in your hand and inspires a whole new level of confidence every time you make a cut. Trigger feels solid and the all-magnesium construction is just as much style as it is functional. And while included blades typically are subpar, the 24 tooth Diablo blade makes easy work of pretty much everything you throw at it. If you're looking for a right blade circular saw that has performance, precision and inspires confidence with every cut, go ahead and scoop one up. You won't regret it. The stand shown in the picture was not included but was made with the SkilSaw.

probably the best you can get right now
just grabbed this in Saturday for $129, it was on sale at my local HD for $99 as of today, went in with my receipt and got back the $31 some odd dollar difference. I use this saw to earn a living 15 years experience at 33. Awesome saw, perfect blade for framing in the box. No brainer purchase, especially if your depot has it for $99!! -TheSaw

Comfortable, powerful saw from a trusted name
This is a very good circular saw. I have had a Skilsaw circular saw for almost fifteen years, and this is a welcome upgrade to a brand that has performed very well. The handles are comfortable and well positioned, the motor is strong and the housing is solid. The foot is probably the biggest improvement, particularly over my older saw. As you can see in my pictures, the foot on this Sidewinder saw is almost twice the size of my older saw's foot. It makes setting it on a work surface - such as a sheet of plywood - easier and helps to keep it straight and level. The markings on the saw's foot are also very good. The foot is a medium gray, and the markings are all black and easy to ready. It makes adjusting the depth and angle quite easy. The included Diablo blade is an excellent addition. It cuts clean and does not bind. My only problem with the saw is the price. There are other Skilsaw brand saws available for considerably less than this particular model. This one does boast being made completely of magnesium, and having "worm drive technology integrated," but it is not a worm drive saw. As it is a Skilsaw, I'm sure it will last nonetheless.

Built for the big jobs yet lightweight
The Skilsaw Sidewinder circular saw is a heavy-weight in the field of performance saws, without the "weight". The magnesium build makes the saw unusually lightweight, but still has the strength of an all-metal saw. I liked all the "worm-drive series" features; comfortable handle grips, easy-reach finger trigger, etc. There are lots of adjustments on this saw so it is very adaptable to whatever work you are doing and all adjustments are clearly marked with raised, painted lettering. I was able to change blades quickly and easily with the onboard blade wrench. A long, heavy-duty power cord rounds it out and makes it ready for the job-site, industrial work area or home workshop. This is the top-of-the-line saw in non-worm-drive circular saws; you can't go wrong with Skil. I recommend adding a blade kit to it; it comes with a blade (24) but I picked up an 18, 40, and 140. I also wish it came with a case or bag, but I purchased one. Finally, I added a rip fence (Skil 13896) to my kit and it was complete. I tried it out on some scrap lumber, turning old redwood into planting stakes. It had the power for the job at hand and I did not feel fatigued by the saw at the end.

            Great details, powerful saw
OVERALL: Lot of attention to the details. Extra heavy power cord, good swivel. Easy to read angle and depth markings. Comfortable handles, easy to lift latches. Really nice to use, very powerful. POWER: I replaced my 13 amp Craftsman with this. Very noticeable difference. The motor is smooth, starts up easy, cranks down without any jerks like my old saw had. No problems cutting any wood I tried. COMFORT: Very comfortable saw in your hand. Like the front handle and non-slip surfaces. All latches covered in black rubbery surface. USABILITY: Very good visibility through the guide, and dust is redirected away from the cut very well. Magnesium plate very stable and slides across wood easily for a smooth cutting feel.

            A powerful & comfortable workhorse
Replaced my well used 12 year old Skilsaw. My old saw jumps when it starts but not this one. Nice smooth power from start to finish. Has a very solid thick cast base and yet is light weight and provides great work visibility. Cutting guide lines front and back of base. While specs say 56 degree max angle it will actually angle up to 57 degrees with positive stops at 0 and 45. Depth markings are large & clear. Large thumb levers for depth and angle locks. Dust is directed directly out the side not angled side & back. The heavy power cord is 10 feet. The only plastic parts are the handles and the blade lock. YES a blade lock. About time. OH yes, no silly thumb safety button at the trigger, just a straight simple trigger.
