Spax hex fasteners were easy to install. They had solid clamping force to hold the structural sections together. They were attractive, almost ornamental. I spaced them the same at each connection so that they highlighted the beauty of the stairway frame.

I used these screws to attach a 2 by 4 to a 4 by 4 green treated post. The screws drilled through the 2 by 4 wood without predrilling and did not split the wood at all. I used a 1/2" drive impact wrench to turn the screws and the screws torqued down very tightly into the wood. The project I used them for has not been put into use, and is in an indoor location, just going to be exposed to moisture and sitting on a concrete slab. As I needed more than I ordered online for store pickup, I went into the same store a few days later looking for a few more. They are not stocked in the hardware/fastener department at my local store. I did not look anywhere else for them in the store or ask for assistance locating more, but I would recommend seeking out these screws over galvanized lag bolts for certain applications. They are nice lag screws.

I’ve used many different Spax screws and have had maybe two failures. All of the ones that I have used were made in USA or Germany. Although a little pricey, they are well worth it. Not like the other junk screws, lags, etc. where the heads twist off (even after drilling a pilot hole). Think about the time wasted having to deal with a failed lag. Spend the extra little bit, you’ll be glad you did. May 2020.

Used on PT wood, did not drill pilot holes, used 3/8” impact driver, worked well, no broken lags, do not like the torque version, they seem to strip easier. Thanks

These are really great... I was hanging overhead storage racks and decided that the supplied lags just looked cheep so I found these and they worked great said that you didn't need to drill holes but I am old school so I use a much smaller bit to pre drill and when I put the lags in. They pulled in
