1.49 EACH!!!!! What the heck. Are they made of platinum?

Asked by Smitty July 21, 2017
2
Answers

No, Smitty, they are "German engineered" which automatically doubles the price. And they are, after all, lag screws, not regular deck screws. These are made to carry a lot of weight, which is what lags are made to do. They drive better with power drivers than softer lag screws which I have twisted off at the head too many times when driving them into 70 yr-old age-hardened fir studs in my home. And they weren't inexpensive either.

Are they available in 4inch

I used these to replace the stock galvanized lag bolts that came with an awning I bought. These are stronger, have deeper, sharper threads, and require less pre-drilling. I actually pre-drilled a little just to get through the LP siding cleanly and get the screw started straight in so wood grain wouldn't pull it off course.
