It depends. If you intend to use the screws to attach the particle board to something else, then the type of screw will be dictated by that underlying material. These screws have a general purpose rating which means the standard answer is YES. However, I would consider other factors such as: 1. The level of exposure and protection needed for weather. 2. The maximum amount of lbs per sq-inch of weight or load, that must be supported. 3. The proper length of the screw. Answers to these factors will either save money, time, or both. By the way, I really like this screw for mixed-materials anchoring and for outdoor use. Indoor use is a no-brainer but there are cheaper alternatives.
