AnswerIt is a very well-made HVAC air vent "boot". It installs at the end of a HVAC duct run. Install it in ceilings so the HVAC can go through the sheetrock, etc. The externally visible HVAC vent grille attaches to it. Much better made than the standard boot.

The packaging could have been a lot better. The boots were all bent up and had to take an extra 10 min re forming them. Great product though.

Was not to the dimensions on the spec sheet, so it did not fit into 2x8 floor as it should have. Returned. I have a bunch of these and am generally happy with them, this one was made wrong.
I only use Speedi-boots. They solve so many problems, and are so much better, than a std register...

I only use Speedi-boots. They solve so many problems, and are so much better, than a std register vent boot. It has a rubberized gasket to seal against the wall, it is pre-drilled for the grill screws, it has a paper cover to stop debris until you are ready to use, the brackets are snappable and installable in either direction, and the generally metal/build quality is better than a std vent. I never have any issues of accidentally bending it, it is rigid. The lip that protrudes through the sheetrock (etc.) is well-designed. I recommend them as they save so much time.

The channels for the mounting extensions were crimped and didn't fit the extensions. I had to make the hole bigger to accommodate the extensions.
There were no instructions on how to remove the extensions and then place in the perpendicular mounting position
AND the screw holes for the register vent mounting were too small. I tried the standard size screw and then AGAIN with a different vent and there were STILL too small.
I had to drill out a larger hole for these screws.
Very much a letdown on what I was thinking would be a quick and easy project.

It was cheaper here than any other website at the time of purchase. Works perfectly in a drop ceiling. I'm very happy with this purchase.
