This is a thin, sticky fiberglass mesh meant to give strength to a concrete type coating which goes on thin and might chip and flake off otherwise. It has no insulating properties of its own. It does stick well to rigid foam insulating panels.

Do you need the mesh if your applying straight to concrete block in new construction?

Asked by suzie October 1, 2019

Answer

No, the mesh is not required for application to block or concrete, unless there are cracks bigger than thickness of a nickel, in which case you would want to use mesh to bridge the cracks.

No, our products won't bond to aluminum. You would need to mechanically fasten the insulation to the ceiling then use our coatings over that.

I don't think this is strong enough for that kind of installation. You might want to try something like double sided Duct tape.

Answer

No, the mesh provides no insulation value. This is used in conjunction with either our FlexCoat or Tuff II coatings, and can be applied over rigid foam insulation.

Can you use this to repair cracked slabs on a second floor

Asked by Constructiongirl October 11, 2018

Cracked second floor slab does not sound good. You need to grind out crack with diamond blade and then inject high strength epoxy. this may stabilize the movement. But something bigger is happening. Mesh and cement will not stop the cracking. Need to have structural engineer to evaluate.

The material is not metal. I would describe it as a fabric. It is similar to windows screen, but more coarse pattern. Flexible like cloth.

Can I use this as a walkway (sidewalk)

No this product can not be used to make a walkway.

Should the mesh be laid horizontally across the insulation boards or vertically? Does it matter?

It did not matter for my installation.

Applied the mesh to the exterior styrofoam insulated concrete forms (ICF) and brushed on on several coats of Flexbond mortar. It made a strong surface finish for the foam.

Easy to apply, but I wish it stuck to the ICF a little tighter. We tended to get a few bubbles and spots where it didn’t stay adhered as we applied the Tuff II. We did brush the surface of the ICF.
