I need and can't find 2 ea. 1/4 in. X 84 in. brown aluminum screen frame pieces. FSP8491-U Saint- Globain ADFORS... 5/16 in. is to wide and won't go into the slots on the screen door.
Asked by: jimBo
5/16 in is only 1/16th of an inch larger than 1/4. I have made many of these frames for solar window screens. They appear to be basically the same as the original screens in my house that are in the window frames. They measure this same size. I cannot imagine that these would not work. I think this is a pretty standard size for window screens.

how is the screen retained?

Once I've built the screen frames and installed the fabric, how is it retained in the window frame? The existing screen frames had little pins to aid in retention and I've seen 'spring clips' in other window brands. Are there clips available for this?
Asked by: guyCO
The screen is retained by a clip that is not available on the 84 in piece. You must save the top piece of the screen frame for reuse.

No! You must purchase color matched corners available from Home Depot online

How do I attach the frame into the wall?

I was wondering if there is a certain way in which this has to be done or if there is another piece that I can buy to attach the frame in the wall. I can't screw the frame directly because I won't be able to put the fiberglass screen with the spline.
Asked by: WoodFall
My premanufactured windows came with a frame in which to slide the screen The screen frame to which the fabric is attached has spring clips on the top bar. When my dog jumped through the fabric he bent the frame which necessitated the replacement of the metal frame and corner clips. The frame top was unaffected and reused.

5/16 in. x 84 in. White Aluminum Screen Frame Piece is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I put my new screen together on my cellar floor.... I put my new screen together on my cellar floor. The end pieces were loose but tighten up once I attached the screen to the frame. I was trying to keep the screen tight so the frame comes in in the middle. I should have made a spacer for the middle of the frame. I must say that the screen fits well and looks great. My next one will be perfect.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from could have been better I needed to replace a screen for my Malta window which would have cost me around $50.00. This saved me almost $40.00. Not very sturdy; but once I place it in my window it should be fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from terrible product The gauge of metal is too light to handel even the weight of the screen material pulling in on it. I made these beautiful screens that are useless because they seal out the bugs at the top and bottom but pull away from the middle of the window letting the bugs in.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The gauge is too thin. Small projects would be fine.... The gauge is too thin. Small projects would be fine. However a 28" X 28" screen I built flexed too much after the screening was pulled tight. I could make due but it was no where near as rigid as the original frame.
