Given that all the issues in the news with samsung do you think it is safe and wise to buy this brand refrigerator?
Asked by: pam
Four years in on mine and I'm on this website hoping to find a competitors fridge that works. We pretty much got to a point of accepting we needed to defrost every 3 months or so but we'd put it off as long as we could as it's terribly wasteful of food. The downside of putting it off, though, is it gets gradually warmer until you only know it's time to pull the plug (literally) when you smell the spoiled milk. Don't do it. Buy something else.

How noisy is this fridge?

I'm looking to buy a fridge, and see a lot of complaints about noise. It this a manufacturing or installation problem?
Asked by: amt1
After bout one month the refrigerator started to make some loud banging noises, so loud to wake us up at night. Samsung attempted to repair it twice unsuccessfully. They wouldn't take it back. Good waste of my money.

This Samsung refrigerator is got to be the absolutely WORST one we ever own. Amazingly we experienced and continue experiencing and all the negative issues ever been reported and described by many with this fridge by unfortunate customers of this company. Nothing can be stored in this fridge for more than a few days and all products go bad, no matter what the expiration date is if keeps refrigerated. In addition to this built-in-door ice makers are clearly defective and cause numbers of other problems, including water leaks, and huge water build up inside refrigerator under so called cool select pantry and loud growling and popping noises. Sadly and seemingly nothing could be done to fix all these issues and even professionals recommend to just buy a new fridge. Horrible product and we do have much of the regrets buying it. Literally nothing good about this refrigerator and it is only a waste of money. Stay away and buy something else.

Interior is well lit, adjustable shelving makes storage customizable, large capacity fridge and freezer to fit all your needs. My only complaints are that the refrigerator is a bit noisy and the ice bin in the freezer overflows and ice cubes fall behind the pull out basket in an area you cannot reach to retrieve the cubes. I'm used to a metal arm that comes down which prohibits additional ice cubes from dropping into a full bin. Almost everytime I open the freezer section upon closing it , it lets out a "sigh" Almost makes me want to apologize to it for opening it in the first place. I can hear my fridge running from the living room. Not crazy loud, but loud enough to hear it another room. My last fridge was very quiet. It suits it's purpose. Just glad I got it on sale otherwise I would have returned it at the $1700+ original price tag. I've had it for over 4 weeks and I can live with it but feel potential customers should be aware of these things prior to purchasing.

I just have spent $400 to fix this refrigerator after less than 2 years of purchase. About 1 year ago, ice maker stop working. Online solution told me that to push re-set button right under ice maker....nothing tapped....so I was out of ice for 1 year. Repair person told me today that ice maker motor was not function at all. About 2 month ago, refrigerator started making horrible noise. Online solution said unplug 2 hours or so to re-set. It did fix noise. But refrigerator started to sweat a lot so that most of vegetable and fruits were getting moldy in a couple day. Then I noticed refrigerator temp does not go down more than 54F....Finally I called servicemen. It turned out original drain pipe was clogged by poor design. No water was going through and backed up water stated freezing all over and finally affecting fan behind panel. Serviceman replaced original parts and ice maker. I paid $400...I purchesed this at $1100, 2 years ago. I should have bought high end one from the beginning.

The meat drawer should be split into two, having one big one across makes you open both doors to get to that compartment. My fridge came with a huge dent in the front door and the wrap they put on it was glued to the front. Been getting tossed around by Samsung for over 4 weeks, 3-4 calls a week. They've scheduled 3 different repair dates to fix/replace it, and nothing has been done yet. Home Depot has called and they tell them they are sending a new fridge. They call me and tell me they are going to replace the damaged door. Then they no show on repair dates, stating door is not available, so sending new fridge. Then I get a call setting up date for repair that they can't get a part to. Customer service is horrendous, a complete nightmare. Home Depot has been trying to help me all they can. Now they need me to send proof that I purchased it! And how much I paid and proof of payment. The fridge is good, but not worth the hassle of working with Samsung. Trust me.

Had this refrigerator a few years now, and if I could go back in time, I would definitely NOT buy it again. I bought it in black, and the paint is all scratched up on the handles, so you can see the gray color underneath. The freezer handle feels like it could fall off any day now. The freezer makes everything rock hard, changing the temperature seems to have no effect. It currently says it is 6 degrees in freezer and -2 is recommended. Yet we have to microwave our ice cream to have any because it is so hard to scoop. My vegetables are constantly ruined from the refrigerator section. Can't put them in the bins because they always have a layer of icy water in them. Had a repairman out once already, and the crappy twin cooling section in the back of the fridge had totally iced over, basically shutting down the fridge. The only thing I like about it are the lights inside of it, but that doesn't get me much. The repairman commented on how it was a poor design. Can't wait till it totally dies and I can buy another something. Samsung should stick to TV's.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Popping noises We bought this fridge in October 2013. Looks great, lots of space, well designed interior, freezer drawers keep things organised. Seems like it should be good... **BUT** This fridge makes loud, and I mean wake you up at night loud, popping/cracking noises at random intervals throughout the day. Turns out it's a known problem. I've talked to Samsung several times, had the repair guy out and Samsung says it's normal, just settling in, should go away. Even saw and approached a Samsung rep in the Ancaster store and he admitted to knowing about the issue and said it should have stopped by now, call the 800 number he said. But nothing, 800 line says it's normal still. After 10 months it's not stopping... Really disappointed. When I read internet reviews I always take them with a grain of salt, figure some of the bad reviews may reflect the reviewer more than the product. Trust me on this one, it is so distracting to have this fridge in your house, don't buy it. After 10 months waiting for the noise to go away I'm going to try and return it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst appliance brand you can buy!! DO NOT PURCHASE ANY APPLIANCES FROM SAMSUNG!! You will regret any Samsung appliance purchase! Installed a Samsung refrigerator, stove and dishwasher for my new home just after the warranty expired my dishwasher has started to leak every use, the ignitor went in my oven and my refrigerator has had a puddle of water under my pantry drawer and the freezer has completely stopped cooling. Temp is currently 61 degrees. Had a service man come out, he told me I would be better off buying a new fridge ( different brand, of course) then to try and fix it. I made a call to Samsung support ( don’t waste your time!) they are the rudest representatives that I have ever spoken with! They told me that I should have done more research before I made my purchases! Unbelievable!!! Home Depot should be ashamed to sell such unreliable appliances by a company that does not stand behind their products! I am completely disgusted! Will never buy anything from Samsung again! I wish I could give it a negative star review

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Put simply, do not even think about purchasing a Samsung refrigerator. The unit is not 4 years ol... Put simply, do not even think about purchasing a Samsung refrigerator. The unit is not 4 years old, and for the past 18 months we've had to defrost it 6 times. If you don't have a backup refrigerator in the garage, you will wish you did. Ice dams in freezer (you have to silicone the back and side of the ice bin to keep refrigerator air out, which melts the ice and causes the dam). The back coil freezes over because the defrost heater coil is underpowered. Use a hair dryer for 3 hours, after emptying refrigerator, removing shelves and taking the unit out of service for at least 24 hours to unfreeze the coil. Replace parts, and it still doesn't work. The duck bill drains located on back of the fridge clog, and require cleaning. I've never had to do this in my 40 years of owning refrigerators- this caused water, and lots of it, to pool under the deli tray, and it sometimes freezes as well. So, in summary, it's a useless product. It's going straight to dump, I wouldn't even give it away when it leaves my home later this week. My trusty 20 year old Frigidaire will remain my backup in the garage.
