Questions & Answers

Cant tell from the available images, does the control knob have a popup function so that you can press/lock it down?

Asked by: Chuck
That is a good question as it cannot be answered by looking at the available images. I am not smart enough to attach a photo of what it is, but I could if this was an email sent by my email app on my computer or phone. So I will just explain it to you. It is a magnetic knob that if you slide it across the top of the cooktop, like you were bowling, it would grab one of the fingertip controls. My wife and I never use it as fingers work so much better moving the finger in a circular pattern over the control. It is super nice that there are no knobs on the cooktop and none are needed!!! We do not use our cell phones, but it is possible to connect your cell phone to the cooktop!!! Who would ever wnat to? One more thing, we never before had a glass top cooktop. It is slick and your pot will slide around. Be careful so you do not scratch the beautiful cooktop. I experimented and ended up purchasing Mrs. Anderson's silicon baking pads to go between (magnetic!!!) cookware and the cooktop. Enjoy the new cooktop!!! Always purchase induction ready cookware!!! Protection must be used between cast iron and the cooktop to prevent scratching!!!

Will this fit in a existing cutout that is 36' left to right and 21 front to back?

Will this fit in a existing cutout that is 36' left to right and 21 front to back?
Asked by: qb
The cutout size can be found at your Home Depot store, if you do not have a computer to research it. Home Depot people are very knowledgeable and are more than willing to find this type of information for you. I have enjoyed my induction cooktop for around a year and no longer have the installation instructions.

Can food debris be trapped inside the stainless steel trims when you clean the ceramic top?

Can food debris be trapped inside the stainless steel trims when you clean the ceramic top?
Asked by: raffy
It could be possible for food to be trapped between the cooktop and countertop if the countertop is tiled and the grout lines are not level with the top of the tile. If you have a quartx, marble, or laminate counter no problem. No problem with any type of smooth top counter (and level all the way around with no dips in the counter)

What kind of draft/ventilation is needed? We currently have a down draft- so we need to vent with a hood?

Asked by: Kst3
You do not have to vent using electric or induction. Venting is just to remove the smell of things cooking or burning (if that be the case). You should vent if using a gas cooktop. Note that the gas furnace and gas water heaters are both vented so you will not die!! CARBON MONOXIDE KILLS!!! Cooking food does not!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great, cooks even better Easy cleaning, heat is precise, boil water in under a minute, but don't walk away if using power boost. Easier to adjust temp with finger than dial. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool lights & cooks fast; quirky with water drop I replaced a regular electric glasstop stove with this unit. I wanted something faster than electric. I wanted gas, but didn't want to re-pipe my house. Did a lot of research and am overall happy with my purchase. Power--boost is insanely fast at heating up water when you need it. The touch controls take some getting used to. We almost exclusively use our fingers vs. the magnetic knob, which is just too slow. The noise isn't really an issue. Sort of bugged me at first, but if you turn on your range hood on low, you can't even hear it. My biggest complaint is how picky it is with water on the surface. The manual says if water "spills" on the surface, it shuts everything off. I presume that's to prevent your food from boiling over. But, even if you pick a lid up off a pot, and the condensation falls on the cooktop...presto...everything shuts off. It's very annoying, particularly when it's been five minutes and you didn't notice it and now everything has stopped cooking. Ditto if you take a metal sheet pan out of the over and put it on the cooktop (cuz...it's right there). The metal will usually do something to the touch-controls and either you turn something on or off that you didn't intend to. Seems like there's some middle ground between, "This just happens when you're cooking, so don't turn everything off" and "this heats up stuff really fast so we got you..." Still happy with the purchase overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable / Consistent Heat / Easy to Clean I've had this cook top for just over a year; zero problems. It can boil water in under a minute, is easy to clean and is basically flawless. For me, it meets or exceeds all other cook top duties but is incredibly easy to clean. I'm no neat freak but my stove top is now nearly spotless at all times. You can even cook with a rag on stove top between pot so grease splatters are caught before they hit the surface. Cons: It draws quite a few amps, so you may need to run a new electric line for it. The controls to adjust temp is a bit touchy so sometimes it takes a couple touches to get it to the exact temp setting you want. Don't buy it for the wifi capabilities because in this (my) iteration it is only for monitoring stove top temp settings; no adjusting temps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I found the cooktop controls difficult to operate until I discovered I was polishing the cooktop ... I found the cooktop controls difficult to operate until I discovered I was polishing the cooktop too much with a cooktop cleaner. After I cleaned the cooktop with a clean dishrag with very little dawn dish soap rung out as much as possible, I found the controls very easy to change temperature with fingertip. I do not polish the area with the controls any more with Cerama Bryte and now it is the best cooktop in the world!!! Very easy to control the temp now!! I use the Cerama Bryte on all parts of the cooktop except the control area. I am one happy user and have enjoyed the Samsung 36 inch induction cooktop since before Christmas 2017.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It isn't what we expected We were super excited to get this induction cook top for our new home we built. It unfortunately started malfunctioning shortly after use. Heaven for bid a drop of water gets on the cook top and it shuts down and you can't turn it back on until the top is completely dry. Our one burner has already stopped working, and we have literally only used it maybe 30 times or so if that. We just moved into our new home at the beginning of October. We did buy the extended warranty, so hopefully when they come out to look at it, it'll solve the problems.
