Q:Does this dryer absolutely have to be intalled with the water line for the steam feature or will it function as a normal dryer without the water line?

          Shutting off after 2 minutes
          I purchased this dryer a few years ago and have already replaced the heating element and now having trouble with it shutting off after 2 minutes. Would not recommend this Samsung dryer!

            Do NOT buy this product! We have purchased it less than 18 months ago and we had plenty of issues. The latest one is the heating piece who broke completely due to overheating. Technician said that the one placed originally by Samsung is bad quality and super thin. I WOULD NOT make the mistake of purchasing this item again.

              Failed one day after warranty expired
              I bought this a year and a week ago. Exactly one day after the warranty expired, the dryer stopped working. It would not heat up. I went through the process of troubleshooting and discovered that the control board had failed. ONE DAY AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED!!!! I replaced the control board and on the dryer works.

                Beautiful and Quiet
                i received this dryer approximately 2 weeks ago after it was backordered for a few months but it was well worth the wait. not only does it look beautiful, but it dries clothes great and it is very quiet. my only regret is that i didn't purchase it sooner!

                    Piece of Junk
                    At first the dryer worked well although I rarely used it preferring to line dry. Now I can honestly say it's a piece of junk and I will never buy Samsung again. I started to use it on a regular basis only to find my clothes had tiny holes in them after every use. Upon inspection I saw a hole in the drum with a sharp piece of metal protruding out. Service rep said it would cost $140 just to come out an inspect the dryer, that's before the cost of the parts and repair. Will be junking this useless machine and buying a new one!

                      Got the dryer to match the washer
                      I purchased the Samsung front loader washer and matching dryer during Memorial Day sale. I also took advantage of the Texas Energy Star tax free offering. I got the matching set in Platinum. It was not backordered. Home Depot delivered and installed the washer and dryer the Monday after Memorial Day. For over 30 years I've had GE washer/dryer so going with Samsung was brand new for me. The song that plays when cycle is Die Forelle by Franz Schubert. It is very long, but I'm use to it now. There is probably a way to turn it off, but I don't have an issue with the tune. Is it hard to load/unload clothes in this dryer? It is not an issue for me, however, if you have back problems you might want to get the pedestal to raise the dryer up higher. I do not have a pedestal and it is not an issues for me. The washer / dryer does NOT come with: Kit to allow the pair to be stackable; pedestals; washer hoses; dryer vent hose; dryer electrical plug; dryer Y adaptor to allow steam to dryer. You have to buy those items separately. This dryer is a little bigger than my old one so measure your space before you buy to make sure it will fit. The new dryer vent hoses don't allow you to push the dryer close to the back wall so it sticks out farther than my old dryer. This could be a problem for some people if there was limited space/depth for your dryer. The dryer is a dryer; I just set it on "normal" and it is done in 42 minutes. I would NOT say the dryer is "quiet". I do think the dryer is as loud as my old GE one, but not excessive or loud per se. I talked with friends and they said the steam feature on dryers is really good/helpful. I have used the dryer steam feature once and am glad I have it. The dryer steam feature was a reason I selected this dryer. It does require a "Y" adaptor that connects to the cold water valve that is used for the washing machine. I do find this dryer does not collect as much lint as my old one even though the vent hose is clear/not blocked and the filter is inserted correctly/tight. I am very happy with my new dryer. I put my clothes in, set it on "normal" cycle and let it do it's thing. If you have a super small load, the dryer may not dry everything all the way. It is helpful that when you start the dryer it tells you exactly how many minutes it will take and counts down the time. I was pleasantly surprised how much I like this Samsung dryer.

                        DVE45R6100W - Heating element failed, less than 2 yrs
                        Purchased this dryer on Aug 26, 2019, it was delivered Sept. 4, 2019. It has been a great dryer until two days ago (Jun 23, 2021) when it stopped heating. Display always showed "cooling." Some YouTube research showed me how to get at the heating element (wear gloves by the way, sheet metal is almost razor sharp inside) and sure enough, there is a break in the heating coil (see picture). So this element lasted 660 days before failure. Just long enough to be expired past the manufacturer 1yr warranty. I found a replacement part (only $20), so I guess I will be able to breathe some extra life into this unit. This however doesn't put Samsung high on the list when it comes time to recommend a dryer to people or when I do decide to replace this unit.

                          Great Dyer
                          [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We decided to replace our dryer. After comparing features I chose the dryer model DVE45R6100AW. It offers steam feature to refresh/fluff/winkle release touch up. Dryer has a new style of lint screen that requires being more careful so you don't break plastic hangs. Very happy with purchase.

                            They called it Buyer’s Remorse
                            I fell in love with this washer and dryer set. I’m still in love with this set. I live in a three story newly built townhouse. In my townhouse the washer and dryer have to be front loading and stackable. No problem you think? If you look a little closer the machine has only dimensions mentioned not whether or not it is standard sized. And trust me that is a BIG deal. I’ve learned the hard way one size does not fit all. The first attempt at ACTUALLY receiving my set was postponed because of the pandemic so I could not be upset ordering a washer/dryer on January 25th and actually received it March 5th. It was eventually pushed back again from a February 22nd because of weather. It seemed even Mother Nature didn’t want me to have this set either. So March 5th gets here and I’m really excited the contractors come in examine the space and realize it needs to be stacked. No problem where is the stacking kit? Don’t have one. So the process stops right here. No measuring the space no nothing else. The process stops here. They give me the vendor number which was nice of them and leave all within 15 minutes. I’m left with a brand new washer and dryer still boxed in my garage awaiting a stacking kit. So I purchase said stacking kit thinking when I FINALLY get my set put in it will be worth the headache I have right now. The customer service rep was awesome rescheduling my installation a week later and I’m getting excited all over again. The day comes and I’m excited. New home new washer and dryer I’m giddy. This second set of contractors are way more observant than the last. They measured my machine in passing before examining the space an already have reservations about the fit. So they check it twice. And tell me that not only will my set not fit but wouldn’t fit because of required hoses needed for the dryer to have run properly without setting my house on fire. So this is twice now. I still love this washer and dryer but it’s apparent that this set is not for me. They leave my house and leave my washer and dryer the exact same place it’s been in since March 5th. I called customer service (by the way they were awesome). But could not help me. Now here comes the kicker regardless if they installed it or not because 48 hours have pasted and I still love it and it’s just a matter of fit. It is called buyers remorse. Now I’ve looked up buyers remorse and fit of said product does not fit into the definition. I did not and do not still regret buying my appliances but now I am. Samsung would not take it back and the store has a no return policy based off of their version of “buyer’s remorse” which is defined as doesn’t fit, do not like color and other cosmetic things. So at this moment I have a perfectly brand new washer and dryer set wrapped in plastic and cardboard sitting in my garage unable to be exchanged or brought back to the store. An am also still without a washer and dryer in my house because I’m paying for one I cannot use but need. I REALLY JUST WANT A NICE WASHER AND DRYER SET THAT FITS MY SPACE BUT BECAUSE OF SO CALLED BUYER’S REMORSE I CAN NOT. Anything to not take your product back and I am willing to work with the store on a future purchase of another washer and dryer. Never used still wrapped up and everything.
