Questions & Answers

I just got mine ordered. I am having my gas lines run but need to know what electrical to run. Is it hard wired or is it a plug? Is it a 220 or a 110?

Asked by: sparky
I am a Home Depot Associate in Appliances. The range has gas powered burners and 110/120 electric controls/readouts. The range comes with a standard 110/120 three prong plug already attached.

Is the electrical 220 or 110?

Asked by: Dave
This not an electric oven, it is GAS, therefore it only needs the minimum 110v power supply for the ignition to work and the pretty lights/display to function.

Would it be posibble to cook event of power outage ?

Asked by: Egemen
you can use the stove but not the oven. You can't start the oven without the electrical panel but you can use a lighter to start the stove.

Flex Duo 5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Double Oven Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 120.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Convention We've had this oven about a month. At first the food wasn't getting done at all. I tried adjusting temp and time but nothing helped. If I cooked it on the top, the top burned and the middle was raw. If I cooked food on the bottom, then the bottom got done, but the middle and top didn't. It took some convincing to get Samsung to send a repair man. He said the convection fan wasn't working. Again it took a while to get a new one ordered and installed. In the meantime, I had to use regular bake, which defeated the purpose of the double oven and required me to remove the large, heavy divider which I had no place to store. After the fan was fixed, the food got done in the middle, but not without the top or bottom burning depending on the location. Also, it doesn't cook faster or at a lower temperature. If I lower the temp, it takes longer. At the conventional oven temp, it still takes as long as the conventional time. Even my microwave, which doubles as a convection oven, doesn't have these problems!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but has odd design glitches regarding fire power The oven works great, I love the small oven option. The stove is beautiful but it has two minor glitches. 1. The middle long burner has only very low heat so it doesn't really work to grill meat at all. Good for pancakes but that's about it. 2. The burners are different sizes and the heat is very strong. The right front burner is SUPER POWERED for very high heat cooking. While even on low the next biggest burner (left front) is very high heat. So I am relegated to using the two back burners for cooking. I actually tend to start on the left front, move to the left back and end up on the right back. But it's weird to not be able to simply keep my pot or pan on one burner the whole time. I am constantly having to move them between the three smaller burners while not even using the very strong Front right burner. It's a bit complicated but I guess I will get accustomed to it. The over is fabulous. And I love the fact that the handles light up because I sometimes forget when I have a burner on.

I bought this oven in October because of the 2 oven capacity and storage drawer. The first time I used the upper oven @ 350 on bake I could smell something burning soon after and opened the oven to find the top of the casserole in flames. I shut off the oven and placed the casserole in the sink. When I turned the oven on again to check it - the high flame broiler setting was on while the panel was set at "bake @ 350". Believing this to be a malfunction I went to Home Depot the next day. They referred me to Samsung warranty division and they sent a rep out - who witnessed the broiler flame when set at 350 bake and said it was not a flaw. He told me I would hear from someone in a week but I never did. That being said - the stove top works fine and the oven - as one large single oven- works fine. The divider is stored in my cellar now - I only wish I had saved $800.00 and bought the single oven style because that is what I have ended up with.

Loved the look of this unit from the start but was concerned about two things. One being the divider being able to keep the upper oven from heating the lower oven do to the rather thin divider. Not a problem. We used the upper oven at 350 degrees for 15 min to reheat supper and when we were done I opened the entire door to place my hand in the lower part and it was just warm. I could comfortably keep my hand on the lower oven racks. Two. We had concerns about wanting to check an item in the lower oven while also cooking in the upper oven and letting all the heat out of the upper. (You need to open the entire door to gain access to the lower).. I suppose the heat will escape the uppermost oven but it don't seem to matter much. There are some limitations on temperature ranges you can use if both ovens are on. Such as, you can't cook at 450 degrees in the lower and expect the upper to be at 200. The stove top burners are very nice. The large one will boil large pots in a jiffy, and the upper oven preheats fast. All and all my wife loves it, it looks great and looks to be well built.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't judge a range by it's cover! What a bummer! We own a number of other Samsung appliances (refrigerator, washer, dryer) and we've had great luck with those, so I was thrilled to find a Samsung range (NX58K9850SS) that had a number of desirable features (true convection, dual oven, power burner, self-cleaning and illuminated dials when the burners are on) along with the beautiful styling that I wanted. Sadly, the product quality and consistency of this range is beyond disappointing. 1A. Oven temps vary wildly. I have purchased high-quality oven thermometers that suspend from the racks (the thermometers don't "touch" any oven surface), and even 10-15 minutes after the oven indicates it's reached the designated temperature, the temp inside the oven is off by anywhere from 15-35 degrees! And worse yet, if it's close to what you set when you start, the oven doesn't maintain the temp throughout the cook! For example, I had the divider in and set the lower oven to 350 degrees F. I gave the oven an extra 10 minutes of heating time after the preheat alert, put my 9 x 9 casserole in to bake and 25 minutes into the cook time, I checked the dish. The temp inside the oven was only 320 and my food wasn't close to being cooked properly. I bumped the oven temp up to 365 degrees, and 10 minutes later the temp inside the oven was 353 and my dish was still underdone. Sadly, this is just one example, and I have so many others. When using the divider, the smaller, top oven typically over heats - especially on convection, while the somewhat larger lower oven is slightly more consistent (meaning not horrific) when using convection, but when using regular bake in the lower oven, it's a true gamble and you don't know what you're going to get. The only mediocre thing I can say about oven temps is that when using the oven without the divider on regular bake, I have had a couple of decent batches of cookies, but I constantly have to fiddle with the temp to keep it at the desired level. 1B. After consulting the help manual, I did try the "temperature calibration" function - which is basically where you set the number of degrees that are automatically added or subtracted from the temperature you input on the touchscreen when turning the oven on. Clearly this doesn't work, because after *adding 15 degrees* to the temps, I still end up with temps that are *20 degrees (or more) lower* than the temperature I set on the touchscreen. 2. The oven racks are terrible! They don't slide in or out smoothly, and they often get slightly out of alignment while moving them, resulting in a rack you almost can't move. All of which can cause liquids in the pan to spill over. E.g. Juices from our holiday ham spilled over onto the oven door because the darn rack got stuck while trying to pull it out. Nothing says Happy Holidays like the smell of burning ham juices! 3. The self-clean function is terrible! After the holiday ham incident described above, the oven door and parts of the oven were splashed with sugary ham juices so I thought I'd try the self-clean feature. The four-hour self-clean cycle did almost nothing to remove any of the baked-on juices, so I tried a six-hour cycle and 80% of the gunk was still stuck to the oven, oven door and oven door glass. So I consulted the manual to see if there was something I was missing. I added a cake pan filled with water and dish soap and repeated a six-hour cycle. Needless to say, my oven is still a mess - even scrubbing with a baking soda/white vinegar mix didn't work, so clearly the self-cleaning didn't even loosen the gunk. 4A. The range top seems okay, and I've managed to work out which size pans can go on which burners so that I can use at least 3 at the same time, but beware, if anything spills over, you're going to have ugly burners and caps! Several of my dark metal burner caps are now discolored because sauce or something splashed out of one pan and landed on the deflector of a nearby burner. And to top it off, the metal burner "deflectors" that spread the heat under the pan are discolored - the brass power burner is the worst of all and nothing I've done or tried seems to get them clean. Oh, and fair warning - the stainless top can get scratched easily. The installers accidentally dropped one of the metal burner caps onto the stainless top and it left a 1 inch scratch on the range top. 4B. The middle burner/griddle is worthless. E.g. The center of the middle burner gets so hot the pancakes there over cook in seconds, while the pancakes closer to the ends of griddle pan don't get close to cooked. Maybe if you have an oval roasting pan and you want to deglaze the pan it might work, but I'm not convinced. 5. The timer. Oh, where do I start on the timer...? Plainly put, it stinks. The sound is not loud enough to hear from the room next door if anyone else in the house is making noise of any kind. No worries, though, right - because this oven can connect to my smart phone via Wi-Fi... Uh no! The oven can alert me when it thinks it's preheated, and I can turn the oven on/off, but the timer can't alert me to my smart phone - which is just one more bummer to add to the list of bummers. Want to know the biggest bummer? I didn't use the oven very often during the first year of ownership, so I didn't figure out what a disappointing product this was until after my warranty expired. It's now 18 months after I purchased this unit, I've called to see if Samsung can do anything and was told that the only way to move forward is to pay out of pocket for service calls. Even then, I'm completely skeptical that it's anything that can actually be fixed. So there you have it... It looks gorgeous on the outside, and while it has a number of fantastic features, they don't work consistently and you may have wildly varying results when you use it.

Burned the first two things I made in the Upper Cavity, but remembered all the reviews that said the same, so I removed the upper shelf and BINGO. Beautiful toast now. I love it each time I see it. I love it each time I boil water for coffee. It is true it displays every drop of water or spatter of grease. I keep the "end" of a roll of toilet paper nearby, wet it, and gently remove the marring spots. Smooth, easy, and actually fun. Use the Stainless spray for more diligent cleaning. The control panel has two timers which you can use for boiling eggs on top or cat naps in the next room (although your ears better be good - the beep is subtle, which I like). All in all, a beauty. I have not yet used the whole cavity or the center grill or set up the smart features. Love the blue lights. The slender drawer down below is a nice extra.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's nice...for the first year. I own this thing for 1 year and 4 months, and the touchscreen hea... It's nice...for the first year. I own this thing for 1 year and 4 months, and the touchscreen head unit will randomly turn itself off after the oven is on for a while. I can only turn the touchscreen back on after power cycling the gas range from my circuit breaker. The pattern I figured out is that it will turn off when it overheated from using the oven. Basically the head unit will turn off not long after I feel the touchscreen becomes hot to the touch. To fix it, the quote I got from a Samsung authorized local technician is $667 parts + $210 labor = $877. This problem looks to me to be a serious design flaw on Samsung. The silver lining in this is the incompetent engineers at Samsung remember to turn off the oven when the head unit went out. At least my house won't get burnt down. Oh yeah, the local technician did mention to me Samsung is only good at making TV and cellphone. What a joke! The look of the gas range is very nice but it really only has the look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From a professional chef After 50 years in kitchens I've retired. And so I have plenty of time to check this gadget out. I love it! The dual oven setup works great. The 22,000 btu burner is kickin'! I love the griddle in the middle and the burner flexibility. Mostly though, I love the accuracy of the ovens. So, I hooked up a very accurate and reliable thermometer to test the temps. I was delighted to see the the oven would hit the desired temp and the burner would slow down but when the temp dropped to about 15°s below the set temp, the burner would kick right back in and raise it back up again. In testing over hours, at various settings, there was never more than a 16 degree drop from the set temp. And if you like baking, you'll love that. Moreover, the stove looks professional, feel professional and cooks professional. Is my excitement obvious?
