What kind of support do you provide?

Samsung has terrible support. They don't partner with valid service centers, and they will not service anything themselves if it is past the original 1 year warranty. Basically you're stuck with a nonworking piece of junk.

What is the height of this vacuum? Does it recharge and resume cleaning on its own? Is it good for underneath beds?

Asked by Jane November 28, 2015

It has about an hour of cleaning. After that, it will dock and recharge for 3 hours and you have to restart it. Its height is higher than the Roomba so it probably will not clean under beds.

I've never spent so much money on a vacuum and before I received it, I was really worried I'd regret this purchase. I've had this for a little over a month and it's well worth it! It has incredible suction, but doesn't "suck up" some of the thinner rugs my traditional vacuum has difficulty with. I doubt I'm the only one that's ever had to hold a small rug down with one foot and tried to vaccum it, without it getting stuck in the vacuum?? It gets everything very clean, and with a dog it's so handy to have the house vacuumed every day without having to vacuum! I've found that it vacuums rooms from left to right, depending on what wall the docking station is on (easiest way to describe: if it's on a north wall, it cleans north to south; if it's on the west wall, it will go west to east and back again). It has some difficulty finding the docking station if there are items within a couple feet of either side, so it's best to have it set up on a fairly open wall. It's very smart and works so well, if it ever gets stuck or sucks up something like a towel on the floor, it shuts off immediately. My favorite part is how it cleans under my bed!! It was a great purchase, and I'd definitely recommend it. Probably the one thing I'd like is if the canister was a little bigger, I have to empty every couple of days with a dog that sheds year-round!

The fact that this is supposed to clean all on its own was the attraction... Nearly there - only we are removing cables, loose items, rugs with tassels and so on on the expansive ground floor of our home. Its plaintive chirping when it gets stuck, coupled with sending the kids on a 'Sam' hunt are almost entertaining. I confused it by starting its life in our home in one room and then moving it to another.. Seems to have a little trouble with all the furniture that can move in our house... Now the plus - 4 cats - floors and carpets always clean - 'Sam' wakes up and goes for it the same time every day... quiet mode until he finds a dirty spot - into turbo mode! Had it about 10 days - very happy so far! Almost meets my very high expectations - I suspect that the next version will be better - instructions for how to set it up weren't very intuitive - plenty of 'how to' videos on Samsung's support site.

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
I never thought that I would be writing a review about a robotic vacuum. Then again, I never thought the review I wrote about it would contain the words "life changing" - but this product is just that. This is probably the single coolest piece of technology in my home today - and my husband is a technology junkie so that's saying something. My house always has clean floors - every day - and I don't have to do anything to make that happen. You simply press start (on the robot or the remote control), and it automatically goes around to every room and cleans. When the robot is done, it finds its way back to the charging station - the only thing you have to do is empty the dirt collector. I turn it on when I leave for work, and when I get home my floors are clean! Do note that you won't be able to throw away your existing vacuum, it can't do things like stairs, but I'll happily do the stairs since the robot cleans everything else. Here are a few comments I have about it: Robotics: The big differentiator compared to other vacuums is obviously the fact that it travels around cleaning everything on its own - and it does a really good job, it actively seeks out corners and runs along the walls, so while it may not pick up *every* little speck of dirt you see, it gets 95% of it, and since I don't have to run the vacuum manually that's good enough for me! It should be noted that the robot doesn't finish one room before moving onto the next room, it kind of randomly moves around, but trust me it gets everything by the time its done. Getting stuck: On occasion it does get stuck between our coffee table and the couch (see the picture). It's not really the robot's fault - if I was manually vacuuming I would have had to move the coffee table anyway. When it does get stuck it tries to free itself, then it will power down and beep for you to come help it. Once you understand where it can get stuck you can completely eliminate this from happening (it has only gotten stuck twice in the last 15+ times of using it). Multiple stories: We have a two story house, so when I want the second floor cleaned all I have to do is carry it up the stairs and tell it to start. It is smart enough to not fall down the stairs too. When its done I shut it off and carry it back down. Noise: It is actually quite quiet, I would say quieter than my existing vacuum, I have definitely let it go around while I'm working in the same room, and you could hold a conversation over it no problem. Battery: It easily cleans each floor on a single charge, we only have a 1,200 sq ft home, but it only uses about half the battery for each floor so larger homes should be fine. Cleanliness: I tested running it over a dirty area rug and then using our existing vacuum to see if the robot left anything behind, it worked surprisingly well! Also it picks up most large things it comes across (leaves, etc..). It seems to have some kind of sensor to tell it when there is a really dirty spot because it will slow down and go over the spot in some kind of high power mode (it gets a little louder during this time). Animals: Our dog doesn't mind it, but he doesn't mind loud things in general. It will work around things it sees in its path (like tennis balls) so if you want your whole floor cleaned make sure to pick up that kind of stuff - but you would do that anyway if you were vacuuming regularly. Spot cleaning: My only very small complaint about this product is that its not perfect for "spot" cleaning. Say you spill something in a room, you can pick it up and carry it into the room and tell it to spot clean - this mode will tell the robot to make larger and larger concentric circles until it hits all 4 walls of the room it is in. So the spot cleaning works pretty well, but for odd shaped rooms like a hallway it won't be perfect.

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
When it comes to Robotic Vacuums, there are a lot of options out there. Yes, I have tried another brand, which in my opinion, was more of a headache then a blessing. This Samsung, so far, outweighs my previous experience. The unit is solid and is quite tank like! I have mostly wood floors in my house and a few area carpets. This vac tackles them with out and issue, as shown in the video. I have 2 dogs and pet hair scattered all over. The Powerbot picks up the pet hair without issue, on the carpet and on the wood floor. It returns to the base quite easily and charges in about an hour. It actually has an onboard camera that it uses to avoid obstacles, etc. Keep in mind though, this is quite big, so getting under certain furniture may be an issue. It is no louder than a normal vac, and the dust pan is right on top, which you lift off and empty fairly easily. Overall, I really like it and would recommend to anyone looking for a different option than all the other robotic vacuums. It does come with a price, but I think it justifies the value.

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
I have a carpeted finished basement that rarely gets vacuumed so I thought I'd try out the Powerbot there. It consists of a 15' x 30' rec room, a hallway, bathroom, and bonus room totaling about 600 square feet.. I put the docking station in the bonus room. I put in a daily schedule and tried it out for a week. In general it does an admirable job, but, as with many automated products there are some considerations. The manual says it won't pass over carpet more than 1cm / 0.4" thick. I found this out on the first day when it hung up on the shag bath mat in the bathroom. It is smart enough to turn itself off when it can't make progress. After that I kept the bathroom door shut. The second day I found it stopped in the rec room showing a "foreign matter caught in the brush" error. It had swallowed a small screw and stopped to protect itself. Once it's stopped and restarted it seems to forget where the dock is. After the run it ends up at about the same spot it was started. I've had some trouble getting it to charge manually by placing it directly on the dock, but I've discovered if I put it down a couple of feet in front of the dock turn it on and push the recharge button it will dock itself perfectly. It does OK with power cords - either running over them or backing away depending on how they're draped. I'm careful with thinner cords like phone chargers - I think it could suck those up and possibly damage them. The next few days it worked perfectly. It runs for 55 minutes and then docked itself to recharge. Recharging takes about 2.5 hours. It does a nice job and picks up a fair amount of debris. It's easy to empty the dustbin. It's gentle on furniture. Head-on, it won't even touch it. The corner sensors require physical contact, but they're very gentle. Lighter objects like power strips can get nudged an inch or two. After five consecutive days of cleaning it was still picking up about a cup of carpet fluff, so I got out my high-powered upright vacuum to see how good a job the Powerbot was doing. The upright picked up about the same amount again, so the Powerbot has been doing a good job - and I'm sure not going to vacuum every day. For another test, I tried it out on the hardwood floor in the kitchen. I was skeptical that it would work well since the 4" high toekicks under the cabinets are lower than the Powerbot is and tend to trap debris. I was surprised that the Powerbot did a pretty good job by sticking the corner under the cabinets. Some of the larger pieces weren't picked up but a pass with a hand vac did the trick. The kitchen connects to a sunken living room so I was able to test the "cliff sensor" that keeps the Powerbot from falling and it worked perfectly. The last two times it ran downstairs haven't been so perfect. Once I found it with a dead battery in the middle of the rec room and the next day it had gotten "stuck" in a corner and turned itself off. I just turned it back on and told it to resume and it did, so I don't know why it thought it was stuck. It's not too loud, 70dB when running on carpet and 75dB on hard floors. It is bothersome enough that I don't want to stay in the room while it's running. Our timid cat who hides under the bed whenever I get out the vacuum sat and watched it run in the kitchen, so it's pet friendly. The dock uses 40 watts when charging, about 6 watts when fully charged, and about 1 watt in "energy saver" mode which turns off the display on the Powerbot. I leave it on "auto" with "dust sensor" and a daily schedule. The only thing I've used the remote for was to set the time and schedule. Speaking of the schedule, it will do one-time or daily. I would have liked to be able to specify which days to run. The icons on the Powerbot for which schedule to run aren't documented but it turns out the top icon with the broken circle is for the daily schedule. It weighs about 10 lbs. I can pick it up with one hand, but I have large hands. You can plop it down in any room and press the "play" button and it will do its thing until the battery is low. I may try this in the sunken living room after picking up the kitty toys. The Powerbot comes with dock, charger, remote, batteries for the remote, a decent manual, a spare filter, and a cleaning brush. I think the Powerbot would be most beneficial in a single story house with an open, uncluttered floor plan, but it's smart enough to manage anywhere the carpet isn't too thick.

Customer review from samsung.com logo
When I purchased this unit I was a little bit skeptical about it thinking this is allot of money for something that's not going to be as good as a regular vacuum. Boy was I wrong! Now that we have it I don't think we would be without it. We have a big dog that runs the house and he sheds really bad so we end up with dog hair all over. We were vacuuming a couple times a day and still had a hard time keeping up with it. So I bought the Samsung robot and turned it loose on the house and was amazed with the job it did. Still had to use our big vac now and then to do things where the robot couldn't go but not the tune as we did before buying the robot. It has a powerful vacuumthat picks up everything. After a year I had a problem with the right wheel motor and had to have it replaced, it was down for a couple weeks and we didn't know how to act. We got it back pretty quickly and where a happy family again lol! Recommend it to everyone, I know we won't be without one and it will be a Samsung!

I've had a Roomba and now the Samsung. Pros: Samsung does not rely on bumping into furniture. Vacuuming Route is more systematic. Suction is more powerful. Brush stays cleaner. Point to clean feature, on the remote is very good. Cons: Roomba gets corners better. Roomba navigated flimsy rugs.

I was completely shocked on how much dust and dirt this thing picked up the 1st 2 weeks I had the vacuum. I own a Kirby vacuum that is rather high end and always thought it was great when it came to removing dirt and dust and hair from my carpet. NOT ANYMORE. This little robot vacuum is awesome. I cant say enough good things about it. I only have a couple complaints about it so far. the first thing is: get you loose stuff off the floor. Pet toys, strings, shoes, extension cords. It will try to suck them up. It will get into some tight spots. I am amazed where I find it when it gets stuck and shuts down. You really have to move some of you things around so it can access the area. It is more persistent than an ex-wife. And my cats get lots of exercise chasing it around. number 2 is: sometimes it forgets where the home charging station is. I have mine is a back bedroom. They say place the charging station in a central location. So this may just be a placement issue. I you come home and find the robot has died in a room before getting back to its charging station, that's normally the problem.
